Hi guys,

I've noticed that the AUS spec Mustang is losing nearly 20kw vs the US spec Mustang.

Is there an ECU upgrade out there for the AUS spec cars yet to revert it back to the US spec power output? If so is it undetectable at the dealership when serviced?

Thanks.

A tune will set things straight. No need to change/upgrade the ECU itself.

Once you drop a tune in, your warranty will pretty much go bye bye. Best to be aware of that.

it's a lot less than 20kw, more due to the different measuring standards (Aus measures with all accessories connected, US is without accessories)

+1 what HybridGT said, every time you flash the ecu it registers, even if Ford service do it. If it's flashed by anyone but Ford say bye to your drivetrain warranty

Yeah I was referring to a software based upgrade and yeah I am aware it will void the warranty if they know about it. I was just hoping a software based upgrade would be undetectable at the dealership like an ECU upgrade that I did on my Golf GTI once... It added 40kw but was undetectable at the dealership when plugged into their computer.

Maybe I have high hopes tho haha

It's probably not a big deal but my OCD hates it when I get less than someone else, especially when we (AUS) are paying more for the car hahaha

Best advice I can give you is if you wanna get more power out (safely), use the car as it is first.

Get a few thousand k's on the clock just to make sure the engine isn't a lemon.

Besides, it's plenty of power even with a tiny bit pulled out of our Aussie ones.

Feel free to disagree though of course :D

haha defiantly don't disagree, just hate it when ADR get a hold of a perfect car and de-tune it. Don't get me wrong, it's still perfect (to the Australian standard haha).

is that a problem for NA cars? I know it happens often with turbos, with excuses like cooling etc, but I can't remember seeing the same detuning happen with an NA car

I'm sure it would for NA cars too. Power to weight ratio my be the reason. Think I read it in an artical somewhere that it was for a reason similar to that

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was a detune more to do with the emissions and header/catalytic converters variance.

Read the reason ages ago but can't recall. It's a tiny negligible difference though. Doubt you'd feel the 5-10hp decrease.

I'd be more concerned about getting the power we've been given, to the ground.

The factory tires are rather shitty from what I hear. A replacement tire set would probably be a better idea than a tune + warranty kill.

And while we're there... Also change... This... And this too...

Yeah I think you are right... I may just cut my (slight) loss haha

In pics the types look to be Pirelli P-Zero's which are suppose to be the "go to" for grip... If they can't handle the power then I think I can be happy with the 306kw hahaha
