I'll be pulling the trigger on a DIB Base GT with PP in 2 months or so when the weather breaks here in Ohio. I'm trying to figure out if I should put an order in for the proposed car or wait and try to find one? The dealer I'll be working with says he should be able to find one, but do I take the chance?

I would order it, then you will get exactly what you want and it should take basically 2 months from order to delivery. Then your name will be on the window sticker and it will be built just for you...

Use the Ford inventory search, or look at a nationwide dealership chain such as Autonation, then Autotrader, Edmunds, etc.. to look for inventory.

Put the dealer to the test and see if they can find one now.

It took me 6 months to find one that had the equipment I wanted on it. If you have manditory items,be prepared to spend some time searching. It might be easier now than a year ago.

Yep - I used Cars.com and it found every one that my dealer located.

If it's just color, PP and transmission then you should be able to find one. If you have an interior preference or the alternate PP wheels in addition to the above it gets harder.

Nah, just simple DIB, base GT PP, non-recaro, black cloth. My local dealer has one with nickle wheels (yuck). Koons has a couple. My salesguy is a friend at a dealership out of state. He said he should be able to meet/beat Koons price (33k out the door).

What difference will 2 months make on a $40k car?
I don't understand this statement. I'm not ready because the weather isn't cooperating in Ohio and I don't want to get it and have winter tires put on for 2 months.

It'll probably take them 2 months to find you one so I would start now. Or order one now and wait 2 months for it to come in.

I don't understand this statement. You don't want to put winter tires on the car so you like many others park the car in the winter. Okay got it. So why cant you buy the car and park it now? Shoot. Someone from the dealership may even deliver to your front door just so you can park it...Sorry, I don't understand.

No more Koons BS! Folks out there complaining about salt that would be the last place to buy the car right now. And the year before that, HAIL. I'd thoroughly check any car sold by them.
