What TT said. But yes, there could be 10 speeds in plain sight and you'd never know it. You won't see many test mules going forward till the G7 car. Minor refreshes of designs like the front/rear and other things don't require them really taking them out as much as a new generation car unless there are significant changes. More then likely you'll see the GT500 out there or any special edition vs the standard S550.

Ford had a very 'meh' Detroit show compared to last years knocking the socks off...we'll know more if anything is in store from Ford with the Mustang from the Chicago/NY auto shows coming up in Feb/March.
Each of the Big 3 had "meh" "eh" and "blah" shows..

No new Camaro variants, no new Challenger models, no SE Mustangs...

The biggest reveal was the SuperCrew Raptor and the Fusion...just..no sizzle.

People in the GM camp are talking about the Buick..but the last time Buick was really "cool" was the 60's and the last time they had anything note worthy was the Regal GN, GNX and T-Type

Of course, I could be wrong....

I wouldn't be so sure. I bet we'll see '18MY prototypes with front n rear camo in the next 6-9 months. Yes, fascia changes could, in theory, just be tested in labs and private test tracks......but manufacturers always have prototypes on the streets at some point, too. Take the '17MY Fusion. That was spotted on the street with camo front n rear for what was a pretty light refresh. I'd expect the same for the '18MY Mustang :)

People got so used to the heavily camo'd and covered up GT350 and early S550's that they think ANY exterior changes will result in full body cladding..

Just because we don't see them doesn't mean they're not out there...98% of the car going public would just see that and go "oh..weird" and move on..not everyone is going to snap a picture and post it.

I've got to believe Ford will offer as an option the Magneride dampers and active exhaust since the Camaro SS already has those options. The other thing they should do long term is get rid of the 2 binnacle speedo and tach openings and go with a full LCD screen much like the Camaro and Corvette. No more gauges in the center console - Read the latest R&T article about the Camaro vs. Mustang. It would save Ford money in the long run to do that because they wouldn't have 2 different instrument panels (PP and Non-PP).

Ford already has a design ready for that...from the new F150. I personally would rather them design something else because this is really, really similar to the new Camaro and at least 7 other GM models.

Yah but it's probably easier to just adapt the F-150 one for a Mustang refresh and honestly they should have had that in the premiums already like the Camaro/Challenger have.

The new dash thing they showed at CES will prob be something you see in the G7

There will always be changes, but not like a next gen change like you are referring.

You'll see things like the transmission, possibly performance pack on the auto, MRC, new exhaust set-up, updated fascia/tails, etc. and more major the engines.

What you sound like you are describing is a next gen...no one is expecting radical changes like that.
Not really..I'm thinking of the 2005-2009 model...I'd say the investment was similar..What changed during those five years?

I think any cosmetic changes will arrive in late 2017 as a 2018 MY. Probably it will get full LED headlights and a bumper redesign front and back with different foglights. The rear lights are probably going to remain the same. Ten speed auto and maybe a bump in horsepower for Eco and GT.
Direct injection GT:D it costs nothing to dream:headbang:

I highly doubt you'll see anything new for 17 other than possibly some new small options- maybe Magnaride and some type of baffle exhaust like the GT350 carry to compete with the SS. Maybe a small tweak to the engine to give it 10-15 more hp tops.

But by now there would be plenty of leaks/rumors of any redesign or totally new options. We knew about the 16 with the turn signals and CS and yellow jacket interior like half a year or more before production began.

There's been notta for the 17 and we're only like 3 months away from order banks opening. I highly doubt any new redesigns at all at this point.

I just purchased a 2016 GT Premium this weekend. I have always been a Chevy guy with owning 3 Z06 corvettes over past 6 years. The GT is the best bang for the buck and i test drove the camaro as well. I will take this GT any day over the camaro. As for the camaro being a bit lighter and faster that is easy to overcome and you still are in a nicer car with the mustang for a lot less money.

Get outta here with that. I used to be a big proponent of DI, now I'm heavily against it as a sole fuel delivery system. Only way I own another DD DI engine is if it's dual injected
