Like you, after driving one, I was hooked. I liked the S550 platform so much I traded in our 2013 GT500 for a 2015 50YLE. Such a huge improvement over the S197 platform in every way!

Hopefully you're getting a good teaching curriculum with your daycare for that money. A number of places are just baby-sitting kids instead of teach pre-schoolers their colors, numbers & sight words.

Oh I loved it!!

It'll be oh so sweet in a few months. Definitely worth the wait. I don't know what you're looking to do, but something with exhaust would be my recommendation for first mod. I am quite happy with my resonator delete. Cheap, adds a nice growl, but totally civil when just tooling around and no drone.

Two other things I forgot...

1. Now I understand why some say the 1st gear is useless...it really is. Barely get through an intersection and it needs to be shifted.

2. The whole locked console with the security package is kinda James Bond-ish....no key no sign it's a locking model...just locks with the fob...at least that's what the dealer said. Thought that was a nice touch.

The one feature that was a little weird was the whole "X Miles to Empty"...being that it was a dealer's car they only put enough in to let you do a REAL short drive. But I started out with 12 miles or so and, just while idling at intersections, it would count down. Tank must have been on fumes.
Just a funny little sidenote: that x miles to empty is (from what I was told) VERY accurate. That includes your reserve. Don't test your luck. Lol

Cheers! Hope you get one!

Hiding my jealousy at those Brembos...

I have 3.31 gears. First is actually usable, but the tradeoff is that it won't accelerate worth anything in 6th until 65-70 mph. Upside to that: it gets 27-28 mpg on long trips. When this becomes my 2nd/mostly weekend car, I will probably do a 3.73 swap.

Yeah, when I hit 2nd it was like "oh ok, here's the Mustang!" :D

Honestly, for in town puttering around, it's not an issue. Just something that's pretty obvious. If taking anyone up on their challenge I'd probably just start out in 2nd. Not that street racing is something I'm planning.

...still can't believe less than a minute on the road and people were already starting!

The center console locks when the car is locked. You can't lock it independently with the FOB.

I like my 3.31 gears. Use 1 through 5th for normal driving, and 6th for highway cruising above 60 MPH and for gas mileage. If you need to accelerate to pass, just pop it down into 5th. It will still do 160 MPH in 5th gear, and 120 MPH in 4th.

when did you shift ? 1st gear red line should get you to at least 15 mph, and that's hardly "useless"

I like them too, but it would be fun to have a more aggressive gear for a car that's just my fun machine instead of my DD. That said, 2nd gear is pretty much perfect for autocross with the 3.31s since you don't need to shift out of it on even the biggest courses.

Actually, the difference in 1st gear at 6000 RPM is only about 4 MPH. 39 MPH for 3.31 gears and 34.6 MPH for 3.73 gears.

The difference in speed vs RPM spreads out more and more as the RPM increases - seen mainly when around 5K~6K PRM in higher gears. There's only a 2 MPH difference at 3000 RPM in 1st between 3.31 and 3.73 gears. Apparently it's something that people feel when driving 3.73s. Frankly, with 3.31 gears, 1st really doesn't feel very "tall" to me.

I don't really care about go fast, but I would like to be able to spin the rear tires a little easier. I currently have 3.55 and 18x8 A/S . Not too bad, but 3.73 / 4.11 would probably be better for me than a S/C. S/C is singing its siren song and I am having some difficulty ignoring it.

3.73 is about 12.7% more multiplication than 3.31 so definitely is noticeable. Its the equivalent of adding 55HP at peak.

Of course there are road speeds at which the 3.31 will pull harder because it will still be in a lower gear than the 3.73 car.

On my way home last night the driver in front of me decided to brake hard for no apparent reason from 45 mph. Caught me completely off guard, but luckily my PP has those huge brembos and they saved my hide. So I can definitely attest to the performance and practicality of having them. Absolutely love my S550! But not in love with the Perellis after just 16000 miles they were toast and expensive to replace, and not from aggressive driving, but an occasional spirited run to 60 here and there.

That's like twice as much everyone else is getting. My goal is 10k
