So I was trying to install my Redline hood struts and the bracket doesn't line up properly. You pull off the small waterline, remove the nut and put the bracket on. However the hole on the bracket that matches up with the waterline hole is way off. Leaving no way to clip the line back in. Anyone else have this happen? I can just cut that part of the bracket off, but obviously I would rather it just line up.

Well shit, maybe I just got unlucky. I had someone double check to make sure I wasn't just being an idiot. :headbonk:

Basically it means your hood isn't perfectly aligned, I guess. I have the original redline brackets (shorter ones) and was going to upgrade to the longer brackets, only to find out that the bracket doesn't align for me either.

Redline suggests loosening the other bolt on the hinge to line it up, or something like that. Seems to be too much of a hassle to bother.

I never did install the bigger bracket. But if I were going to do it, I would just drill out the hole for the wiper line to be larger. That would do the trick.

Honestly, it would save Redline and their customers a lot of headache if they just redesigned the bracket (larger hole) to account for the small variance in hood alignment.

I had the same issue, and was told my hood was misaligned as well. Seems to me when I look at it, it's lined up pretty well, but I guess it could be off just a tiny bit. I just left the line loose, it isn't going to get caught on anything, and isn't worth messing with the alignment as far as I'm concerned. Funny thing is, when I got mine they came with the old brackets, and redline sent me the new ones so I could attach them properly, then they didn't line up anyway so.....

Thanks guys, looks like it's a relatively common problem. Surprised redline hasn't addressed it in their design. I think I will just feed a zip tie through the bracket hole and snug it down.

Same thing for me put the way the line rides between the bracket and piston it doesn't move or really have anywhere to go. Maybe I'll adjust the hood later or cut a minor groove in the bracket to allow more movement. I don't care at the moment as it all works great.

They don't need to address their design. It's how it needs to be. It's the hood alignment that should be addressed. Along with every other body panel on the car. I'm sure Redline Tuning designed the bracket to the hood without the hinge on it. The bracket would line up perfectly on every hood that way. What changes the angle is when it gets bolted to the hinge. Hence why all you have to do is loosen the bottom bolt and adjust the hood slightly and it lines up.

Just to add, you'll have to adjust the other side as well to keep the hood square or you may push the front part of the hood into a fender. Every adjustment is dynamic to alignment.

There has been a thread about this previously and a vendor stated that the instructions tell you to adjust your hinge like has been said here. I did the adjustment and the bracket then lined up. My problem was that since I have racing stripes, it made the stripe from the hood to the bumper cover go out of alignment. I tried adjusting the other side but didn't have enough adjustment to get the stripes lined back up so I had put the other side back where it was with the hole not lining up. Like others have mention it doesn't hurt anything cause there's no where for the water line to go.

For those with issues with our version 2 hood brackets the information below will explain what people are seeing.

First, we designed the entire system (patent-pending) based on vehicle scan data - it is 100% perfect fit. However, due to Ford assembly line build variations with the hood and hinge, there can be slight misalignment with our hood bracket. The misalignment stems from hood being attached slightly further up on the hinge at the factory. When this is done, our bracket rotates around the top hinge bolt and rests on the hood's hinge (see our manual) putting our bracket at a slight angle. This also affects the pass-thru washer hose attachment at the top of bracket.

There is a simple solution to solve this... First, loosen the lower hinge nut just slightly. Then rotate the bracket up into place so the washer hose retention clip hole in the hood aligns with the hole in our hood bracket - this will move the hood a very small amount and you can then snap in the washer hose attachment where required. Then tighten both nuts back up.

We have tested this on many Mustangs in our shop. Most of the Ford hoods are bolted down from the factory within specifications, but some are not. Do not assume that your hood is perfectly aligned from Ford. We have found that many are not and that by putting this bracket on as described above, it will actually bring the hood into alignment - it is a very minor movement. If you are still having issues, please contact us and we will discuss further.

Had the same issue. Used a hole punch and just forced the bracket to line up. No problems after that.
