Painting brackets for Redline hood struts

I am going to be ordering a set and really want to paint the brackets white to match the exterior of my car. I know JLT offers painted versions, but I just want the brackets to be body colored. As far as I can tell the brackets are powder coated. Can I just scuff them up a little and spray them? I was thinking of masking the part where the actual struts mount so I don't have to worry about the paint flaking off in the high wear/movement areas.

Yes, the brackets are powder coated and provide an excellent base for paint adhesion. You do not need to mask off the ball stud as the additional paint thickness will not affect the fit of the end-fitting.

Contact JLT directly. They can ship you a set with just the mounting brackets pre-painted the body color of your choice for slightly less cost than what they show on their web site for the full paint treatment. I ordered mine this way.
