Intake and throttle body question!

I've already ordered a steeda cold air intake and I'm also thinking about getting a bbk 85 mm throttle. Will I be ok without a tune? Really want a decent power addition without tuning for the time being, at least until I get a set of headers. Also what kind of gains can I expect from both items without a tune?

In theory yes as the metered air reported by the MAF will still be correct.

However I would never change anything so fundamental without a tune, it is not worth the risk of causing damage due to running the engine lean.

Also if you going to the expense of a throttlebody and tune, why not consider the GT 350 intake manifold and throttlebody.

The throttle body will require a tune. Any mod worth it's weight will require a tune although I wouldn't put a BBK throttle body in that category. Headers will also require a tune.

Need a tune. Save your money on the TB. Not much , if any to gain on stock intake. Biggest gains will be through a good tune, or FI...

Gotcha! Don't bother with it. I'll just go with the intake for the time being and I'll grab those items and Tune it later

That's the next step gt350 intake mani and throttle body, headers and I'll ride that for a year before I go forced induction.

Perhaps you missed my original question about avoiding a tune at this point?

A "tune" really means "altering the calibration in some way."

Do you need to adjust spark tables or alter the MAF curve? Probably not really.

Do you need to redefine the parameters of the different sized throttle body? yes.

Do you need to access the ECM to do that? Yes. tune. boom.

Unless the intake specifically says that it can be run without a tune, then no, you can't run it without a tune. And if its one with an insert and can be run without a tune you'll see ZERO performance gain, purely aesthetics. Maintain your warranty all you'd like, I've taken my car in tuned, on spray, with headers, the whole lot of it. Never been turned away.

never been turned away for what, an oil change or poor radio reception or never been turned away for blown motors?
