I want to see a picture of where the Wastegate ends up sitting. Which Surge valve do you have?
I have the red race valve from Procharger. Talked to Boostworks today and he said they should be shipping out in the hot side pipe in the next day. Once I get that I will fit it, and then take it to have the Wastegate welded to it. The race valve is much wider than the Tial so I will most likely put the WG where the race valve was on the stock intercooler pipe.

How does the wastegate operate differently than the red race valve.
You over pulley to make boost lower in the r.p.m. range but you bleed the excess off with the wastegate.

Blow off valve still releases un-needed pressure after the TB is closed.

^ this

Normally a wastegate is used on the exhaust side of a turbo car to control boost. In the case of a centri you tap it onto the intercooler piping to accomplish the same thing, boost control. I could even run a boost controller like a turbo car with this set up if I wanted to.

In my case though I plan on setting it at about 12 psi and calling it a day.

I guess the last question to answer is do you just go with the smallest pulley possible without over going over max impeller speed?

I've thought about that actually...little worries about high boost, low rpm stress. Probably not really a thing but on a stock motor I have a weird worry about that...

Would a setup with a waste gate be beneficial in a lower boost application like 8 psi?
I would say yes if you had a small pulley and wanted boost right away. At that low of boost though I don't know how much earlier you would see it get to 8psi.

All the wastegate setup does is help bring the power on faster. But if it's too low I don't think it would help much.

You pulley for 4-6psi more than you plan on running

Is anyone running the F1a with a waste gate? I am sure it is much cheaper to upgrade when buying the charger than later when you want to go faster.

I'm at 13.5psi and it comes on very fast!

I am anxious to see how it performs with your manual transmission. I hope to see you run a 10 on motor before the swap.
