Mine is going back in today as the problem has returned. This is the fourth time it's been in the shop for this problem. I'll keep everyone updated.

"Problem with people..." thank you for telling us what our problem is. I had no idea. 8 trips to the dealership, 3 DS, FSE working on it twice and the problem is really just me making stuff up in my head.

On a more realistic note, the service advisor called and said the FSE would be at the dealership tomorrow to look at it but that the tech that drove it said he could feel it but it was a normal characteristic of the car. So, I guess the cars that don't have a vibration problem are the ones that are really defective. Unbelievable.

Picked up my 2016 V6 a few weeks ago and almost a day later I started getting a vibration in the seat starting at 55mph, up to about 75mph. Also started getting a clunk when I go between reverse and drive. My dealer had the car for three days, balanced the tires, and took three other cars from the lot for test drives and told me that it was a normal characteristic for the car because the other three tested did the same thing. Just a general question, am I now going to be dealing with this for the next few months? Any tips on how to get the dealer to get this fixed ?

Thanks In advance

I'm with you, speedfrk. And Meisterman, you are right. There is a HUGE number of defective cars. I think many people just don't know any better. I have driven 3 V6 cars. One test drive, as smooth as my Acura. One rental and my car. The rental and my car had the vibration. I am betting half of them do it to some degree. Spoke to an independent shop pwner who specializes in Fords and Mustangs and was a Ford tech for many years and he told me this is NOT right and told me the process to follow to get it fixed. He is not familiar with the S550, however as probably none come into his shop yet. But he knows cars and seemed VERY knowledgeable on driveline vibrations. I'm still a Ford fan and thankful for the Ford Service people here on the forum. No evil entity wished this on me. But bean counters DID screw me. I drive UPS trucks all day long. They are quite rough at times, but no driveline vibrations! Well, I think one did, but I think it had over a million miles on it. Yes, we have trucks with over a million miles on the clock. We keep 'em till the frames crack.

And I'm waiting to ride in a friend's GT, but I think his exhaust is so loud, he would never notice. I'm not going to tell him if I feel it. I don't want to ruin it for him, but aren't we worried about ruining rear ends and transmissions with this issue? I already forgave Ford once....

can i be bluntly honest with you?

return the car.

if i could, I would do it in a heartbeat.

i feel this will be an ongoing joke with these cars with the dealer unable to permanently fix the issue, resorting to them blaming the problem on modified vehicles (I cant install my lowering springs on the car until this is resolved), or more likely, doing the service department shuffle - drop car off, car sits for weeks while parts are ordered, dealer tries to claim the problem is not a problem and within spec.

also note that the Ford service advisor Daiesha or whatever does not respond to this thread.

to those who are afflicted by this - make posts on Edmunds, other forums, and share the link with this thread. best thing to get this fixed quickly is make it an eyesore, and then hopefully common knowledge (ie Acura's failed transmissions in the 2000s)

Dealer called today and said that the car is within acceptable NVH limits. Which means that they don't know what else to do. I guess I'll have to lemon law it because I'm not going to drive/pay for it for 5 years like this.

YOU sure took it wrong way.............................LOL. NEVER said anything as you put it . I'm talking how people act as """"IF"""" they're been single out or being picked on. Like it's being done on purpose that company is so bad should be out of business. IF that was the case they would be.

Has anyone thought of taking it to a driveline specialist and paying for an analysis? They might have some voodoo they could work with it with balancing and reindexing and are sure to be better at it than a general mechanic who covers the whole car. I have thought of this, but right now giving Ford another go, but I'm not optimistic. This has not just soured my wanting to buy another Ford, but any car at all. It seems like there's always something major wrong that is not repairable. If I could spend $1000 to fix this today I would. I think my next car is going to be a POS beater. I'm done. My last car I bought used and was great mechanically but came from the north and when it arrived on the truck it was rusted, so that soured that whole ownership. My mistake. My new Honda I bought last year has vib and shaking issues from the CVT. This is ESTABLISHED and DOCUMENTED through Honda with a TSB. I know I'm not crazy. My smoothest car was a Dodge Stealth (Mitsubishi). Couldn't even tell it was running. Heck, my 98 F-150 was smooth too. My Lincoln Mark VIII with IRS was smooth. My dad's 91 Corvette was smooth as a Cadillac! I cannot recommend anyone buy this car, yeah if you just got one, return it if you can.

I don't see it that way ... I don't think it's really anymore than just a high level of frustration by people who have to deal with this issue. It's frustrating for anyone to have to go through all the hassle and multiple visits to the dealership for any kind of problem (not just this specific problem), and then maybe still not ever get it fixed right.

In this case, the fix seems to be complicated and fails many of the times after multiple attempts, which just adds to the customer frustration. The problem is wide spread, well known by Ford and that causes even more frustration to occur when customers don't understand whey Ford can't get their act together and nail this problem down once and for all.

The problem is, the vehicle is new and there is a factory warranty that covers the "problem". Ford will not reimburse any owner who goes "outside" of the parameters set forth in the new car warranty fine print or clauses. So yes, anyone *could* take their vehicle to a true driveline specialist, but it will be all out of pocket for labor and/or if parts are needed. Even if you have the receipt to prove it was a legitimate fix, Ford won't reimburse because it was not a Ford shop (or franchise) that performed the repair.

Sucks, yes...

The biggest thing that is pissing people off is the fact that:
1) The S550 is almost 3 model years in now and there's not a single TSB for this specific issue.
2) The multiple times the vehicle has to be left at the shop - even AFTER it was possibly repaired and has another exact parts failure.
3) Some of the Ford Service Centers are not well educated in proper diagnosis - EVEN WHEN HAVING THE CORRECT TOOLS, like the much discussed "Vibration Analyzer".

I'd like to see more of the internal Ford postings about the issue, like the one post had from the internal Ford forum. Anyone?

Well, no, you're right- I don't think Ford has some conspiracy against me personally and the dealer really has tried the best they can to fix the car. They tried to trade me out of the car but the car I drove was as bad as mine. The frustration level is quite high when you have to bring the car back over and over as they experiment on it to find a fix. That and the fact that the car was fixed and very smooth and the vibration has now returned. So, it leaves you wondering where do you go from here on a 6 month old car... I don't see any option but to lemon law it.

I've been there before BUT as a tech it's even worst. Me as a tech see how frustrated we can get when something doesn't stay fixed or comes back. I get a lot of hard to diagnose problems there sooooo much fun.

I feel ya 347. Trying to fix something that the factory should have done right. You guys are repair technicians, not design or manufacturing engineers. I HATE burdening my dealer with this stuff, I know it's really hard and unproductive for them. Will be sure to bring my servicing dollars to them. This car has a no service transmission. My service advisor saif following Ford recommendations are fine but he recommends regular transmission service every 30K if you want the car to last as long as it can. He said he has a really hard time getting customers to spend the measly $200 to service it at 60K. I told him that's not cheap but I have no problem spending that at 30K. But I don't tolerate lots of fluff in services. There really is not much to service. Show me fluids that can be changed or parts that wear that are replaced and I'm happy to pay for it. Spend several hundred every 30K on my old Acura and I had no problem with it. They send me coupons for free oil changes but I'm not going to use them. Took my new car purchase free oil change but happy to pay for the rest of them. At least Ford filled the HVAC with enough refrigerant this time. On my last Ford my AC cycled every few seconds which was annoying and a sign of low refrigerant. Took it in when new and they said it was normal. Shortly after warranty expired, I topped it off with a can from the auto parts store and the AC worked as it was supposed to. It was just low trying to save a few nickels per car. And THAT is the problem. I hate being nickel and dimed. Ford, can I give you a check for $1000 extra and get it built right? This is not a FORD issue. Happens with many makes. AC works bonkers good in my new Mustang!
