I have a 2018 GT. I have an OEM clutch. Why does it feel like my clutch is still engaged, or super delayed when shifting at higher RPM? Shifting around 6k-7k rpm feels brutal. Even if the clutch is warmed up. It’s as if I’m no lift shifting, even though I’m always lifting. The car jerks too.

Why is the clutch so delayed? Is it only my car or just the way it was designed on these cars?

Will a short shifter fix this? Will a new clutch pedal spring fix it? It’s not the end of the world, but annoying when it happens. I don’t want to break something or burn up my clutch.

Hello; I do not have an answer nor a suggestion. My reason for posting is there is an active thread on the same subject. I read a bit of the thread a few days ago. Sorry I do not recall the thread title. Something about shifting at high RPM I think.

Get a Barton/mgw etc shifter or the Steeda rear mount bracket. A trans insert bushing from whiteline or Steeda also helps.

It seems that at high rpm the Ford clutch doesn't quite disengage properly. It varies from car to car.

A Vengeance clutch replacement appears to also do wonders.

In any event flush your system with new fluid in the clutch circuit and new trans fluid if it hasn't been done.

You might want to read the 30 other threads that mention 2-3 lockout.

Clutch Pedal Spring, BG Trans fluid, steel braided clutch line, Barton short throw trans mounted shifter significantly improved my manual trans experience in the S550.

To clarify, I am not experiencing lockout. Just feels like the clutch disengagement is very delayed.

Sounds like clutch slipping.
The clutch is new and slave cylinder. I have about 2300 miles on them. Ford Installed it. I did proper clutch break in too. New clutches slip too?

Anything's possible. If it wasnt isntalled right or its defective. But feeling like its lagging at high RPM after a shift is what it feels like when its slipping.

Sounds like something is wrong with your car. I'd have a mechanic check it out before spending time and money on upgraded parts.

What’s the fluid look like in the reservoir (is it clean or dirty looking)? If it’s dirty, then it’s safe to assume that the dealer has taken a shortcut on the install.

agreed. I started that other thread. Your problem sounds different than mine.

The clutch is new and slave cylinder.
I feel something involving the slave cylinder is not quite right. It's either physically binding, there's air in the line or something else is preventing it from smoothly operating.

Edit:

Why was the original assembly replaced? General wear and tear or something else?

Are there any noises you're hearing you wouldn't expect as the clutch engages or dis-engages?

The clutch is not slipping or acting up at any other RPM bands, yes?

Agree with others: I would fix this problem with OEM assembly before adding items or making mods.

Warranty on parts and work done?

Are you talking about after doing a pull, per say, (or any hard acceleration I guess) you clutch in and the rpms just hang there for a while before dropping? I've experienced this many times and it's pretty annoying. I think I read somewhere it was the ECU holding rpms for some reason I can't remember. But yeah sometimes after I do a pull, when I hop off the accelerator, next time I clutch in sometimes the rpms just hold rather than drop. Very annoying

It's called rev hang. All new manual trans cars do it.
