Huge respect for doing it yourself and BY YOURSELF.
It will definitely make it sounds more mature!

Haha thanks, I love doing my own work because it makes it more personal. But I will tell you this is one of the harder installs I've done and Ive even done full lift kits on trucks lol

Well done! Persist! Secretly I'm now dreading this in the future...but I do my own work as well.

Like Bmac, I too will be doing my own install. So any tips on how you might avoid the snags you ran into if you had to do the job again, would be greatly appreciated! Pics and videos as well even better. :)
Was there an awkward angle on the last nut or if new nuts were supplied (stainless?), one had a questionable thread that may have contributed to the cross thread? -OR- "Dang, if I had raised the car 'x' more (or less) inches it would have been easier." :)

We've all done repairs that would have been much easier...
the second time!! :D

Thanks for any info to save the many following you on this mod.

So I just finished...my advice to yall is...

PAY SOMEONE TO DO IT!

It took me 7 hours in total. If I did it again I would probably say it would take 4. Drivers side is straight forward you can access all bolts from the top with the exception of one which is easily accessed from the bottom. Make sure you install the studs in the header that connect to the cat before you bolt in the header. Now for the passenger side...you need to install the header from the bottom of the car. If you cut the engine stud on the bottom closest to the back it will make your life easer otherwise your stuck to a crescent wench and 1/4" turns (took an hour to tighten one bolt) the other two on the bottom you pretty much need to be a contortionist and need a ratcheting wrench to get too. If you feel like giving this a try give yourself a good full day and please make sure you give the cat extra time to cool off because it stays hot a lot longer than the rest of the exhaust...

Would a ratcheting wrench and/or special power tools make it a lot better?

Honestly I couldn't have done it without a 1/2" ratcheting wrench (the kind where the end bends) it's pretty much the only tool I used because I just couldn't get a socket in there

What? is this 'engine stud' you recommend cutting off to make it easier?
is it 1 of the studs used to mount the header to the block?

If it is an unused stud, any guess what it was originally for?

Thanks for taking one for the team and describing the arduous task. :-)

Russian, I bet you're feeling particularly good about that $240 installation cost, eh?
sounds like calling a number of shops until you find one it does not realize what all is involved maybe the go to plan. ;)

It's one of the studs used to mount the header to the block and it is used but there is probably 2mm of space between the end of it and the header so you can't fit the wench around it and have to use the crescent side at a super awkward angle

Oh so you don't cut the whole stud off, you cut off just enough so that when the nut is torqued down no stud is protruding past the end of the nut, correct?

After that ordeal, I can see why you call it a night and hit the couch with a couple of cold ones sitting there lined up!

Sounds like it would have been easier to pull the engine...

Honestly...it probably would have the drivers side is a cake walk...the bottom of the passenger side...it's so bad that I can't even take a picture of it

This is good news that the shorty headers bolt right up. I looked on American muscle and for the 11-14 v6 shorty headers they have the chrome ones and the ceramic ones which is more expensive. What is the difference? Is there more power to be gained from the ceramic?
