You snicked but look what chevy did to the Z06 name.

It was always a lightweight big displacement NA car. Always fixed roof, always stick.

Now look at it. Its supercharged. Its a convertible, and the hardtop has a removable roof. AND IT COMES WITH AN AUTOMATIC.
Two different cars/segments at this point.

Ford would more likely release a GT500 to compete instead

Most DCT, especially the ones in Porsche, are transaxles, or rear mounted transmission, not behind the engine. If Ford put the transaxle in the back of the GT350, it would do wonders for weight distribution and could be both a manual or semi automatic. Not sure if the PDKs in the Porsche are different, but they are rear mounted.
The PDK can be found in the Porsche Panamera, Cayenne and Macan and aren't transaxle so it can work here and those engines can rev out to 8k. There are higher performing cars than the GT350R that offer an automatic and an automatic other than a DCT, so there is no technical reason why Ford couldn't except to keep with some nebulous "theme" which I think is BS.

Give us the DCT from the FGT. Raj Nair already said they needed to amortize cost of that transmission last year, so why not the GT350 as an option.

I think Ford has more long term plans for the none R GT 350 than people realize. To keep the GT350 selling, they will surely offer an auto trans. The GT 350 is too famous a marketing name to let wither and die. Look for Ford to be more creative with the GT350 in the future. Performance is alive and well at Ford now.
