Mustang Dynamometer Dyno Result

Planning on getting a tune as my next mod so I went to JBA Speedshop in San Diego to get numbers on what my car is putting at the wheels. I have the 2015 Premium GT 6-speed manual with 3.55 gears, 20" wheels and Borla S-Type catbacks. Odometer showed 9960 miles. On the Mustang Dyno with 91 octane, my car produced 358whp/335wtq on the 3rd pull. The numbers seemed low compared to what I've seen around this forum but I was told by JBA that Dynojet tends to produce higher numbers by about 12%. If that's the case, then adjusted for Dynojet, I calculate 401whp. I guess I won't know until I dyno on a Dynojet. Anyone else here use the Mustang dyno? If so, what numbers did you get?

yep...351/320 here. Now at 405/373
If you want high dyno numbers to impress your friends then yes go find a Dynojet. If you use it for its intention, a tuning tool, then the one you just used is fine. You now have a baseline that you already paid for. Going to a dynojet isn't going to make the car any faster except in bench racing sessions.

Keep in mind that Mustang Dyno's are called "heartbreakers"...because of what you're seeing. There is a reason why people are particularly impressed if you say it threw down some higher WHP/WTQ number on a Mustang Dyno.

However, they are the most accurate and representative of real world results, and are probably the best for tuning because it simulates rolling resistance and such.

Dyno's are meant to measure the delta created by mods/tunes, not the size of your... wallet.

My run on a Dynojet made 366.95 whp / 348.95 wtq. Doesn't really matter a lot what the dyno says, as long as you use the same one to see actual gains.

Thanks for the quick feedback! I just haven't seen many numbers using the Mustang Dyno so I was wondering where my numbers were as a point of reference. :cheers:
