I was wondering if there is a factory governor for top speed in our cars? It seem like when you get around 120 the car stops really pulling & you not near high rpm at all.. i had the traction control on not off . I was told that might also have something to do with it, not sure why but its my first stang so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes - Ford has increased the top speed and limiter of the base model Mustang to 121 miles per hour, 8 mp/h over 2014.

Thanks,

Your going to need a tune and tire that can handle speeds above 121 MPH Limiter. The stock 17" and optional 18" wheels have tires that are not acceptable for speeds above 130 MPH.

Go to the thread Unleashed tune get with Torrie and order a 93 tune $399.00 I've had my 2015 stang well over 120 mph and over 7000 rpm's.

Ties and wheel was already upgraded so Im Good to Go for Sure there, Yeah, I fugured the tune would remove the limiter, Ive been following the Unleashed thread, sux that they put that in there, it couldnt have been due to tires as the cars also come with the 18's & 19" which have a higher speed rating for sure.

The optional 18 inch rims come with Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric all season, which have a speed rating of W. That is rated up to 168 mph

The new v6 shares the drive shaft with the GT. Whatever speed the GT can do, the v6 can as well. At least as far as the drive shaft is concerned.

The base 17" tires are H-rated which is up to 130mph so Ford keep the limiter below that.

Would be nice if equipping 051A would reprogram the ECM to GT limits if the driveshaft and 18" tires are suitable for those speeds.

I believe the European market will not be happy with this speed limiter, especially those who use the Autobahn.

Edit: I believe I just answered my own question. There is no V6 sold in Europe.

I already new the driveshaft thing was a urban legend, LOL, but the GT's are limited as well so I dont feel totally like crap, they get a whopping 22mph more

So what your saying is with the 18" Goodyears and limit of the GT we can safety run up to 145 mph. The only stretch of road I know you can run that kind of speed is west of Vero Beach on the Florida Turnpike about 4 miles long of stright road. Several years back when I worked in the Gulf of Mexico I'd run the turnpike early in the morning and run my Crossfire up to 160 mph I ran Goodyears 18"X9.5" front & 19"X 10" in the back Z rated.

I hit the stock limiter a week after I bought the car... on Texas World Speedway... in the rain :) The stock Goodyear F1 tires with the stock suspension make a pretty good wet weather track setup.
