I've had my GT for about two months now and have put premium 91 octane in every time I fill it up. Am I wasting my money?

It's all I use. Cheap enough right now anyway.

Somehow I'm sensing sarcasm! :D

I used only 87 on my last couple Mustang GTs. They work great with 87. If you're going to the road course on a hot day, I would recommend premium for that day, though. Also, if it's super hot where you live - on the 100+ degree days it might be nice to have premium in the tank. However, there's absolutely no problem with running 87. You won't notice a difference in power.

Also, around here they make premium by putting more ethanol in the fuel. I prefer not to have ethanol in my fuel at all, but I also would rather run as little ethanol as possible. The engine is built to handle ethanol, but fuel economy suffers using it. There are other reasons I dislike ethanol, but I will stay off my soap box at this time.

Its runs fine and still has tons of power on 87. As long as you get a decent gasoline your fine. You will get a little more power out of premium but nothing noticeable unless you butt dyno is highly accurate. A tune will get you good gains even on 87.

Absolutely YES, regular grade fuel is fully acceptable to your GT. Ford states that fact.

Especially when manual clearly states to use regular unless you are towing something heavy :)

87 is fine for daily driving; even the manual says so. If you're going on the track of really beating on the engine use 93.

$.60/gallon adds up when you put in 12-15 gallons each fillup. 15 gallons that can save you $9 a fill-up.

I use 93. Its not my daily driver so the extra money is no big deal for the peace of mind knowing she's getting the best.

I had assumed it wasn't beneficial at all, actually maybe worse if the car isn't tuned for 93. Gas is so cheap if there is any benefit at all I will run 93.

435 horsepower rating for the 5.0 was done with 93 octane rating. It says so in Ford's sales literature and Frontline magazine.
