With the cost of medical care today you are gambling with any savings or retirement or even your house if you do not have 250/500 for bodily injury. My FIL is an independent agent and has seen claims sky rocket over the past 10 years.

A friend is going through this now because his daughter caused a serious wreck (3 cars) where bones were broken, he had 100/250, the claims went over that, and now the lawyers want whatever they can get from him.

50/100 is crazy. My wife had kidney stones that did not require surgery and her total bill was over $50k.
Agree, best advice yet.

Total Insurance bill for 2 car/truck + 2 Motorcycles is just under $1300 a year.

Most expensive is 2011 Tacoma 4WD TRDOR 6spd - $268 per 6 months (8,000 miles per year)

Mustang is $242 per 6 months (3000 miles per year)

Motorcycles are both well under $100 per 6 months (2000 miles per year each)

USAA - No accidents, no points, 30/Married, all deductibles at $1000 w/full coverage on the Tacoma and mustang (if you can afford 1000+ on the drop of a dime...do it, keeps costs down)

55 year old male, clean record, ecoboost with automatic, (no other cars).

State Farm just raised my premium $13 to an even $100 a month.

The agent said that over the last year Florida has experienced a big increase in claims, wonder if it was due to the hurricane?

I have considered getting my $4,000 in mods insured on top of the original vehicle but haven't done it yet.

I have a high deductible because my gap insurance pays it, should I need it. :)

I feel like State Farm is full of crap. They have raised my premiums every 6 months for the last 2 years. For example when I got my Titan 2 years ago it was $499 every 6 months. It went to $530, $560, and now $653. WHY?! Clean Driving Record since 2007. Excellent Credit.

I switched to Geico yesterday. Same coverage is now $407 every 6 months.
My 17 GT with State Farm was $606 every 6 months. I have a feeling it would have gone up next billing cycle. The GT is now $497 every 6 months.

They told me the same, claims have been on the rise crap.
I have 2 other liability only vehicles that dropped a combined $303 every 6 months with Geico.

I have to ask... Anyone with a power adder want weigh in?
And if you do have as add-on, were you able to get gap coverage?

Just got my renewal. $403 for 6 months with All State. Homeowner, married, multi-car, multi-policy. No tickets no accidents. That's for 250/500/100, and $600 deductible (which is really $100 because I have vanishing deductible) and full cost new car replacement.

No standard carrier is going to give you any coverage for a power adder. Go to Hagerty or Grundy.

When shopping for coverage, I always look at the value of a new F150. They're one of the most popular vehicles and one of the highest selling... so you see them, a lot. So, you need to be covered at such a level that if you ever cause an accident, you need to be able to cover the property damage on one of those at a minimum.

Florida also has hurricanes that cause damage as well as the highest rate of insurance fraud in the country, so rates are naturally higher in the state overall. Also a very high uninsured/underinsured rate

Mine at 35, male, 1 car, single, clean record, are about $730 every 6 months on a 5.0 with Progressive for 50/100/50 and uninsured coverage. Geico wanted over $100/6 months more which used to be the cheapest.

Florida has to account for hurricanes/flooding is why it will always be higher. Hurricanes kill cars not parked inside- flooding under and the flying debris. FL has the highest hurricane frequency rate of any state.

My GT is about $700 every 6 months with Progressive; 35 clean record 800+ credit. Live inland.

It will also depend exactly what city, closer to the coast costs more; much greater flood risk. Every time there is a few days of bad rain, or good tropical wave, you see cars flooded under on Miami beach and the portions west of the Intercoastal. That contributes to high rates.
Rates in FL are more because the state is considered a terrible legal venue, especially South Florida.

I was in the same boat as you with State Farm. They have done the same thing with me. I got my renewal yesterday and it went to $613 for 6 months. Clean driving record and excellent credit.

I just got the same coverage through Geico today for $415 for 6 months.

You guys all got me beat. $800 every 6 months for only 10/20. Perfect credit, no ticks and wrecks. Never could figure out why it always cost me so much.
