True, but if you pop a half shaft at 65mph on the street, the medical bills aren't cheap either. If you lose a half shaft under load at high speed, there's a very high chance that you're going to lose control.
It's one thing to build for engine safety, but so many people neglect the the rest...
I have stock OPGs on mine. The only times they really ever fail is if you raise the redline. Stock redline and under 800hp... I'd say you have a better chance of the windshield popping out of the car unexpectedly than blowing an OPG. The problem is that a very literal handful of people broke...
You do know that there's gear ratios in the transmission too, right? I run a Tremec Magnum XL transmission with the Tremec installed "long" gear ratio format.
I run NGKs in my 9psi ProCharged daily. It hasn't had any plug problems yet (27k mi). I run specifically: NGK Iridium IX Performance Spark Plugs - Heat Range 7 (NGK 6510)
M/T Street Comp tires, 305+ hook great for a street tire. I am never a fan of putting a grocery getter gear in a blown vehicle. It kind of defeats the purpose of trying to make it quick in the first place. Using that logic, if you would have left it stock, you could launch your nuts off at...
Every now and then I get the choking low rpm thing after starting. I don't think it's a tune or ProCharger issue... Likely more related to the fuel delivery subsystem somewhere. I say that because if I just goose it quick... BAM, problem solved and it starts idling normally.
On newer S550s, I'd also double check that the hoods are properly secured and aligned correctly. We had one new S550 come in from a local dealership and the pass side hood mounting bolts were only finger tight and the bump adjustments were uneven. I didn't drive it before we took it in , but...
I've got over 60,000 miles on my P1SC-1 equipped Coyote. Currently on my 3rd set of tires and during rallies, I average 26mpg cross country. You might need to find a quality tuner. I actually get better than stock mpg at interstate cruising speeds. Now, I do get 0 mpg during hard...
Keep in mind that worldwide, Nissan only sold 690 some odd GTRs last year. It's a very expensive niche car with zero aftermarket (outside of ludicrously expensive mods). As others said, maintenance is expensive. The transmission for example... tranny fluid costs just a bit more than $50 per...
I raced a Whipple a couple of years ago (on a Mopar, not a Ford). 4th track day, 10th trip down the 1/4 mile it blew its chunky metal guts into my intake manifold. That was the last time I used a Whipple :) Best of luck to you on yours though... but I've since converted to centri style blowers :)
I'm in the same boat really. I build custom cars for a living (all kinds... lot of Mustangs, but I've done about 1 of everything). My personal car is a 2015 PP GT Premium, 50th Edition (non LE). It's got custom body work, paint, wheels, ProCharged, etc. Book value on the car is 36k. Bought...
