So maybe, just maybe, the Mach 1 with the HP option really isn't the hot tip for those whose Mustang enthusiasm begins and ends with straight-line acceleration times.

Just like the 26 years of Fox/SN95/New Edge Mustangs weren't the go-to ponycar answer for the corner-carvers among us for all those years.

Norm

I would do the HP but would ditch those boat anchors and store them. Sticking with what I got

Fact. The M1 is the pinnacle of the 5.0 S550s. Everyone that gets one is going to love it.

However, to me, it's not worth the ~$30K delta (less if you consider the wacky car values at the moment) over my long-paid-off, low-mile, nicely modded '15 PP. That's sort of my beef with Ford not pushing the envelope further with it, to make me feel like I had to have it because it was so much different. I'd never track my '15 or the M1, so there's that also.

Agreed there wasn't that much of a difference from my car with the associated mods I did, most of them Ford Racing products.

Car & Driver had a nice article in the new magazine.
looks like I can say my car does 0-60 in 3.8 sec and 1/4 mile under 12sec. I’ll take it!

Even a Toyota Prius is 0-60 tested and 1/4 mile tested.

The handling pack wheels weigh around 31 lbs. A lot of aftermarket options are in the 25 lbs range.
C&D tests stock cars, not modified cars (except under special conditions). Aftermarket wheels = modified.

I imagine any Mach 1 in the press fleet is in high demand, and if Ford sends it to you with worn tires, well you just test it with worn tires (the Cup2 of the handling package tires kinda start out "worn", and don't last long). If that impacts the number, that is Ford's fault.

Well magazines do what they do, compare things. It was a fun read but it wouldn’t deter me from buying a M1 if I wanted one.

What I don’t get is why everyone, who doesn’t own one, keeps talking about the Tremec and coolers. Yes, those are the big mechanical differences but a M1 is so much more than that.

As Gumby would say……”It’s a Mach 1, damn it”. You either get it or you don’t.
For the same reason people in the gt350 forum trash a vehicle they don't own.

On a side note, I heard the mach 1 was just a parts bin car. :punch:

See what I did there??

I have my eye on a White 2021 Mach1 at my dealership...I am shocked because no one wants it. I can get $2k knocked off MSRP. Its a base Mach1, I would like to switch out my SVE X500 wheels from my car now to that car if they will allow me. These are 24lbs front and 23.1lbs rear in 19X10 and 19X11. They will offer me a great deal for my 2020 GT PP1 300a car, pretty much what I paid for it during Covid. What is stopping me is I got 0% interest for 6 years on the 2020 GT and I add another $20K in debt...don't know if its worth it. I just want the coolers and the Tremec.
Nope it is not. I was going to do the same. I have a 20 pp2

Sad thing is if I was just 10 years younger I would have done it. Mid 50s now I really have to start to watch how I spend money. I really want a new BMW G82 M4, but now go even more into debt.

Mid 50’s is when you START to spend it LOL!

My neighbor across the street has an M4 and he’s bored with it but doesn’t know what he wants to get instead.

A new G82? They just came out...I drove a new one, a manual no less and loved it. I admit though...for the bang for the buck the Mustang has it in spades. I just got such a deal because of Covid, financially it is so stupid to trade or sell up in addition to the horrible investment a new car is to begin with.

I love the Mach though...

I can’t remember from your other posts, did you see what vroom or carvana would give you for your current car?

Vroom gave me way more, almost $37k while Carvana was just under $30K. This was last week.

That was my experience as well when selling my wife’s car last month. Is the vroom offer close to what you would want to get out of it and get a Mach 1?

Yes it was, but to add $20k in debt for a car not that far off what I already have the way it is setup.

Yeah that’s tough to swallow. Do you need both kidneys? Not to sound like a salesman but you would freaking love this car.

trans is about 3 grand. labor another 1k. the diff cooler is 500 in parts. box the rads and if you want to put in a separate oil-cooler you can do that very cheaply.
