wondering if anyone has any issues using a radar detector or any issues plugging it in below the radio. i was looking at an escort passport and it seems the plug is wide and was wondering how that fits or any info on others that are being used.

I'd recommend hard-wiring it into the rearview mirror; there are some threads on here from people who have done that.

I am going to buy another V1 and hardwire it. I have V1s in all of my cars.

I just purchased the Escort 9500ix Passport but haven't used it yet. Your post made me curious so I ran down to my car with The SmartCord and plugged it in below the radio.
No problem whatsoever. Plenty of room and a nice tight fit.
Hope this helps.

Before I had a chance to wire my Escort I had it plugged in; fits just fine.

9500ix here. Once you have experienced GPS lockout you can't even consider a V1.

I've never had any issues with any of my V1s. I have 3 right now and will pick up another for my mustang. However, I had some major issues with escort. It would overheat and cut off. We would have to hold it up the the a/c vent to cool it off. After I got a ticket due to it messing up, I threw it out the window.

I have a passport as well. But only because they're so cheap on the used market. Used to have a V1 but it got stolen. I had to turn the laser off on the passport because it would just randomly go off every 30 seconds all day every day and do this self calibration crap.

I have a Bell GX65, saved me more than once.

I have a 12' lighter cord routed up along the door pillar, but I plan to hardwire to the mirror as soon as I find a pinout on the connectors. Bought a cheap power cord off Ebay for that purpose.

It will plug in there fine, I had my V1 plugged in there until this was posted: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showpost.php?p=396381&postcount=38

Now I use a Mirror Tap 2012 series and tap into the mirror wires. I went with the 12" version for a little more play since I like to mount my detector high on the windshield. If you buy a Blendmount the 9" version is long enough, but I don't care for the Blendmount much. Just make sure if you get this that you buy a 2000 series (last 2 numbers are the length). The 2000 series has smaller spades on the wires to fit into the molex connector.

See the link I posted just above.

My V1 works fine in my car with BLIS. I think you need to send your V1 back in for an update. About 2 years ago they had an update for the road sensors for traffic updates and since that and enabling it, I have had no issues.

Go to the V1 site and do the upgrade check. All you need is your V1 serial number and it will tell you.
