Honestly,

The gas savings becomes insignificant once you start putting 93 in the Ecoboost, while the GT performs as well on 87 as on 93.

I myself do regret getting the Ecoboost, but not willing to take a big hit with the trade in just yet.
This is actually a pretty good point. The GT get's ~ 20% worse fuel economy than the ecoboost (highway). 93 octane in my neck of the woods is ~ %20 more expensive than 87 octane. So while you will get better fuel economy, you'll be spending about the same on fuel for the GT. :headbonk:

I've had my ecoboost for 18 months and I average 23.8 mpg running 93 octane. I recently switched to E30 ethanol mix so that will go down drastically. I'm going to trade up I think in 2018 to a 5.0 unless by some crazy chance ford makes a 6 cyl turbo which wont happen.

Gas isn't really a concern, but it's part of the equation. Considering the hit I'll take when I sell my Eco and the insurance increase, it just made me wonder if the fun of owning the GT will be worth it. I'm thinking it will.

I average nearly exactly 20mpg with my premium optioned 5.0 performance pack with 3.73 gears....running 87 octane.

I traded my 15 v6 for a 15 gt. Took a hit for sure, insurance and payment went up, but worth every penny. There is nothing like the V8 growl. I deleted my cats, resonator and added an x pipe and magnaflows. I've had it a year and it makes me smile evey time I drive it and get on the gas.

To back up your claim:
Using your 20% margin and using easy numbers for comparison
10,000 miles, regular gas=2.00 gal, premium = 2.40 gal
GT MPG = 22. = 454 gallons =$1089 premium, $908 regular,
ecoboost=26.5 MPG = 377 gal = $904 premium, $754 regular

I wonder the same thing because I've been enjoying my V6 since April 2015. I haven't got bored of it yet and I don't see myself getting bored of it anytime soon. I'll probably trade up to a GT when the new gen comes out maybe.

I traded an 11 GT for a 15 Ecoboost.
The two biggest reasons were for the better ride and better gas mileage. Now if you're just talking about S550 cars then the ride part makes no difference.
My GT usually averaged 20-21mpg and 23-24 mpg highway, now with my Ecoboost I get 24-25mpg and 29-31mpg highway.
Most people probably think it's crazy trading a V8 manual car for a 4 cylinder automatic but I'm just as happy driving this car.

I did over the period of 10 years. I had an 06 GT, then went to a 10 V6 and now a 15 EB. I was driving 100 miles a day for work and wanted to save on gas. And to answer the question, yes I did save and yes I'm very happy with the decision. Sure there are people that say they get 28 mpg in their GT but they are like the people that say they get 36 with their EB. I don't drive that way. I got about 16 on my GT and I get 24.5 on my EB. I don't drive slow or easy and the EB has plenty.

87 octane in a GT ? Why ?

Your not saving much and it doesn't run the same, there is a performance difference.

As for mileage...I avg 21-22 combined and I don't baby it either..

If you want a good combo of performance and gas mileage, a better combo is a focus st or rs, if you got the cabbage!

Unless like me you hate the way that car looks and love the Mustang.

I run 93 in my GT and average a constant 13mpg or so city driving. I don't commute far so it's no big deal.
