3.15 Manual Car...

Anyone run their car in 1/4 going from 3.73 to 3.31 or even a 3.15. There is a 3.15 housing available local and wondered if dropping that in instead of the 3.31 would be better. 1/4 mile ET only. Pretty subjective question but curious if anyone compared their slips....

Counter productive.

It has a whipple....should have stated.

My 738rwhp whipple car had a 3.31 and I grenaded the trac loc and r&p at the track so I tried a 3.55. It was too much gear. I was going to try the 3.15 but they only go in the aluminum housing. The aluminum housing is a known weakness, so I wouldn't try it on your car if I were you. Go with the 3.31. I think you'll like it.

Why do people keep changing out 3.73gears especially when they make higher horsepower? The 2014 shelby 662hp has 3.73 gears.

agressive gearing means that each gear is shorter and "acceleration" is more aggressive making it very hard to find traction and having to shift very soon in boosted cars.

I 3.15/3.31 gear will allow for better top speed, less shifting, and give the car a chance to hook a little better as well.

Although 3.15 are primarily aluminum housing I have yet to see one fail or have any damage. Several high 8 low 9 second S550 cars local to me with stock 3.15 diff housings and only axles with no issues at all.

Im selling my 3.15 Complete rear diff housing as I have switched to a 3.31 If anyone is interested.

False. The 2014 Shelby comes with 3.31's from the factory.

The Shelby also has a different transmission, a TR6060 vs a MT82.

It also has 3.31 gears.

The above are actual facts.
One of the factors influencing Ford on the gearing choices for the GT500 were 0-60 times.it will achieve 60 without shifting.Even with the high gear ratio it is extremely hard to get traction in 1st & 2nd,especially with the shitty Goodyears.

mmm Im in VA and I have 331 gears, is it a torsen 373 or LSD?
