At least you didn't buy a 2010 GT in 2009.

The next best thing is always better and brighter. You will always feel like you should have waited a bit more. Just think the next time you upgrade it should be even better than the MY 18, hopefully.
Obviously every new year brings improvements.

There are plateaus though. The 10 speed is a plateau. This is a plateau. The redesign of the S550 was a plateau. You have to decide which plateaus you want to wait to get to and which ones to bite on.

Agreed. I would not trade in a 15-17 5.0 just for direct injection if this comes to the Mustang in 18 or 19.

There are cheaper ways to get 30 or 40hp and not sacrifice mpg; a simple good no tune CAI like Steeda of PMAS can get you 20-25 alone.

The updates will be great for people ready to buy a new car but there is no way I'm getting bent over at the dealer on my 16 GT just to get 30-40 hp and a few high dollar options I don't need like magnetic shocks and active exhaust.

My next upgrade will me 2022 if they don't screw the pooch on the new design and after the first year bugs are sorted out.

Glad to see something confirmed at least. But didn't something say the GT350 would continue without changes? That makes me think the 2018 Mustang GT wouldn't receive too much of a power bump.

With the new features of the engine it's impossible not to get a bump

I can't wait until the Mustang SVO gets the little 2.7l v6 turbo w/400ft-lbs of torque.

Hoping for a bump in hp with the combination of DI. Add a Performance pack to that with some extra hp as well = me like a kid in the candy store.

I wouldn't be surprised if it went to 460hp 410-415tq. Hopefully with the apparent addition of more options they can keep the weight down. A loaded GT is already porky. We don't want challenger level fatness creeping in on the mustang.

I absolutely loved my 2010 GT, even though the 5.0L was strongly rumored at the time I bought it. I still miss it!

port injection solves the carbon of direct injection only type engines since the port injector will help clean up carbon. Lexus IS250 engines had carbon build up problems but IS350 didnt. 350 has direct and port injectors.

Your best estimation of what a 5.0 V8 DI engine can do is the Lexus RCF engine. 467 hp, but still gains 30rwhp from an exhaust. It's also 12.3:1 compression ratio

how do we know this isnt the F150, there is a Built Ford Tough logo behind the pole, not really associated with Mustang

It is for the F150, but because the 5.0L is shared between the lines, it's reasonable to conclude the changes apply to both.

So the only"confirmation" of this is some random dude on youtube posting a video of some random placard with engine information?

What if I post a video of me standing next to a Ford truck with some poster that says 8.2L V12 engine? Are ya'll gonna just jump on the bangwagon that ford will be dropping a V12 in their next truck?

Think I'll wait for an official Ford announcement or article before considering a piece of information as "confirmed".

Port + Direct Injection will be a nice addition to the 5.0. On thing I'll watch is how well the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) holds up long term.

Some manufacturers have had durability issues with the HPFPs. VW, BMW, etc. For example VW's TDI HPFP failures would trash the entire fuel system with metal particles. The fuel injectors, Aux fuel pump, in tank lift pump and fuel lines would all need to be replaced... $6000-8000 repair bill.

This is good for people who want a new car, with a little more kick in power & with a warranty. The 10 speed is one leap, the Port with DI is another. I'm glad I went ahead & got a 15 even with the rumor mills of better around the corner because I mod the crap out of my cars & I'll be able to enjoy 700+hp for awhile while everyone is trying to figure out how to tune the new transmission & engine. It was the same way when Chevy released the new LT1 with DI, I had my C7 forever before anyone cracked some good numbers with it. But I guess you have take the good with the bad & my situation will probably only apply to a small percentage of people. Because there's not to many people that will to take a brand new car & kill the warranty just to put a smile on there face.
