In the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, he and Ford Performance Chief Engineer, Jamal Hameedi take a tour and drive of Leno’s latest vehicle purchase — his 2015 Shelby GT350R Mustang.
Most people know about Leno’s legendary collection of the world’s most exclusive and best performing vehicles ever built. However, what makes him a true car guy is his love and respect for performance vehicles that can also be driven daily.
Nowhere is this more evident than with the former Tonight Show host’s long love affair with the Ford Mustang that dates back to his youth. It is with this background that viewers are treated to seeing his passion for a vehicle that he calls “the pinnacle of Mustang development.”
In particular, Leno sings loud praises for the GT350’s 5.2-liter naturally aspirated bespoke V8, calling it “probably the greatest engine currently being produced in America today.”
We also discover several interesting facts about the engine from Jamal Hameedi, such that it actually weighs 13-pounds lighter than the flat plane crank V8 engine in the Ferrari 458 Italia which Ford used to benchmark the Voodoo.
After doing a complete walkthrough of the exterior, the two get inside and go carve up the canyons of Southern California with Leno comparing the GT350R to the many supercars in his stable.
