We need a head 2 head 1le vs gt350 track pack and zl1 vs gt350r! Why chevy trend is late for these tests? I wonder if they are afraid that the chevy might loose!!! I sensed some disturbance in the force!
If a suspension package on a SS beats the GT350 that would be pretty embarrassing for Ford.

Oh you mean like when the $63500 GT350R beat a $75000 z28? Yeah that was embarrassing for GM.

Coolers are needed for S550 ponies and I've recently read that after 3 laps on a road course, possibly COTA the 8.8 mustang diff threw a code. When I replace my fluid soon I'll go to 75w 140 BG ultra. This is a great time for muscle cars for sure. A little work never hurt me. The 2015 GT does not have a sensor to warn but the 16-17 S550 GT's do.

What's the big deal with 11 coolers if it keeps the car from going into heatsoak or in the case of the gt350, limp mode. A cool engine, tranny, oil, diff, and brakes are a good thing.
It's good to have enough cooling, but it's a lot of weight and complexity having so many coolers in a car. With it weighing 4,000 lbs it's pretty porky. And most of the weight is in the front. It's not very balanced.

I haven't seen any review say it's not balanced. Come on guys, stop making shit up, it's embarrassing. Making fun of the coolers? I thought that would have stopped when the "ultimate track car GT350 was found to be quickly overheating when it doesn't have the optional cooling package.

The ZL1 is the ugliest of the Camaros and I'm not wild about them to start with (1le is the best looking, IMO). But from a hardware standpoint it's pretty awesome.

How so? It was the highest performing car for 75k when it came out. They raised the bar, Ford raised it further when they released a next gen car. 1le is just a suspension package on a SS that's like 42k.

Also sounds like it depends on the track as the z/28 had better times on certain tracks. Odd you want to compare two different generations of cars though.

Only the most hard core GM guys buy into the Z28 being better. The 1Le is simply doing what the GT350 did. It offered more performance at a cheaper price. Once the bar is set. It's easy to exceed the previous model when you know what targets your shooting for.

z/28 was far more hardcore, which is its problem. It made far more sacrifices than the GT350R. The R's ace in the sleeve is its wheel and tires.

I know I'll catch flack for this, but I'm pretty unimpressed with the 5.2 FPC. The new direct injected 5.0 will probably be a much better engine. I think they will be able to really improve upon its low end torque. That and the fact that the performance pack will be available with the auto I just don't see the point of the GT350 outside of exclusivity.

ZL1 is okay, it's greatest strength is being versatile with both straight-line and corners.

I'm enamored by great straight-line speed moreso than track capabilities but that's just me. Imagine spending 63k to get whipped by the Demon and next GT500 if/when it comes out. No thanks!

If the ZL1 is really that badass as most folks make it out to be, it will be a low 11 sec car manual, high 10 sec car auto and can hit corners hard. That, is a car that makes me bow down. The Z06 aside from the cooling issues represent this so call "badass" car. Not the ZL1.

Just my opinion.

They missed the styling mark with the 2016 Camaro and I thought they would somewhat correct it with the Zl1, but it got further from what it needs to be so I have no faith in a MCE. The fact they chose a 1.7L blower still surprises me too and not in a good way. The z06, cts-v and Zl1 should have had a 2.xL blower, or at least the 1.9L they used previously.

Outside of that, the Zl1 is currently the car to beat. I assume a GT500/Cobra is coming out for 2018 as the 7th gen is coming in what, 2020? The high HP Mustang should have landed in the 2017 model year, but if it's not out for 2018 they are really going to miss the boat.

What is the weight distribution on the new ZL-1? Do you even know? I was surprised by how front heavy the car is. I'm not making things up. Not at all.

Yes, my GT350 should have had all 3 coolers. That is a far cry from needing 11! I think mocking a car that needs 11 coolers and all the hardware to go with them makes a lot of sense.

You haven't driven one, have you?

The ZL-1 looks like a good car. Of course there's always someone faster, but it's pretty good. If I had one I would be very nervous around a '13 or '14 GT500. Probably most of those have some slight mods and would walk a new ZL-1.

What makes the z28 more hardcore? Ceramic brakes? Dry sump oil system?
Do you honestly believe the winning difference between the z28 and the R were the R's carbon wheels?

The z28 has more tq and 110 more cubic inches. Not that that means anything. It also has dssv dampers. Yet it still lost to a R.

So the voodoo is not impressive to you over a 5.0? Hmmm let's see.
91 more hp, 29 more tq, more rpm, better heads, intake, cams, compression, rpm range. What kills me about people like you in saying the 5.2 is low on tq compared to a 5.0 is that you're wrong. At the same rpm range the 5.2 makes more tq.

No sound insulation. No radio. No A/C. Springs so stiff that most people said they were too stiff for daily driving. I don't know that much about the Z/28 but those things I think are common knowledge about it. IMO the Z/28 was a "bigger hammer" effort at going fast around a track such as someone might do with their self-modified vehicle. Versus the GT350 was well designed as a great car both on the road and the track... plus it was faster.

Right? If I had a ZL1, knowing it's a drivers race between the S197 GT500 and Hellcat on the straights I would be like shit i'm suppose to have the latest and greatest. That is GM's straight-line beast and unfortunately, it's not so much of a beast since it's limited from the Z06.

Oh well haha :ford:
