Okay guys. I hear a lot of different things, so id thought id ask the question for all of us guys that are new to Mustangs.
What is the benefit of one over the other? Which do you prefer?
Also seen some neat things like the Corsa double X pipe. While it looks cool, how much more "performance" is it?
im debating on purchasing either an H or X pipe based off peoples input, because I know nothing about them. (or the MBRP race because an x pipe is close to 300 and the catback exhaust is 650).
I come from inline 6, so my exhausts have always been 1 into 2 (y pipe), not 2 into 2...

x technically has better flow, but I'm sure you wouldn't actually notice any difference. H CLEARLY sounds better :)

x: high rpm 'increase'
h: lower rpm 'increase'

X is good for something like 1-2 more HP over H.

X sound is a little more raspy sounding on the higher RPM's

H has the deeper tones.

All kinds of You Tube videos on them.

I'm at work so I can't pull up the vids, but CJ's made clips of the Magnaflow Competition catback (which uses an X-pipe) as well as the Magnaflow Competition axlebacks + H-pipe res delete. Watch both vids and that should give you an idea of what difference the midpipe can make in terms of sound.

Dyno-proven minimal difference in power or torque. Chose for sound. X-Pipes do not create rasp. X-pipe will sound smoother and more refined(Euro, racecar), h-pipe sounds 'choppier' or more aggressive(muscle car-ish). Rasp comes from muffler design and from very loud systems like when the cats are removed or longtubes are installed.

I believe the x-pipe design has slightly more efficient "exhaust scavenging" which helps the exhaust pulses leave the pipe and equalize a bit easier. If you look at the design of the X vs H, it makes sense that it would be a better equilibrium with the X. I'm going with X once more catbacks come out for the cabriolet.
