So I stopped by my local long standing and reliable muffler shop today. I was thinking of ordering the xpipe and seeing what they would charge for a nice install. But before we could get into that they showed me an alternative (Pic posted). They claimed this xpipe coupler was an alternative way to achieve the same results when fitted with the correct length of exhaust piping. So we put the car up on their rack and they explained what I thought was a pretty good plan. Cut the resonator right at the front leaving the front resonator pipes and factory clamps (never untorqueing). Weld the xpipe coupler there then weld in the needed length of exhaust pipe to the xpipe coupler to bridge it to the remaining stock exhaust. The whole setup was quoted at $134.99..So what do you guys think and has any members chose this xpipe setup?

Pretty much the same x-pipe I have. They all perform about the same. $135 for the x-pipe and install seems pretty fair.

Its not a 2 1/2" system from factory?
From the cats to the resonator is 2 1/4 OD, except for the neck downs at the flex pipe and resonator connection, which are under 2" OD.

Correct you are..and at the back of resonator its 2 1/2" pipe.. I guess they will use their pipe machine to taper the inlets on one end.

So I had planned on having the work taken care of after work today so I stopped by the muffler shop. Well they were kinda overbooked so it looks like I'll try again next week sometime. Very hesitant to do the mod but I'm now to the point where I want more performance out of the car. Im sure it will be the beginning of the mod bug lol..stay tuned and will have a pic of the work up eventually..

It will work and that is a good price. I paid 69.00 for a universal x-pipe from Summitt last year and was charged over 100.00 to have resonator removed and xpipe install with lengthening pipe welded.

Op you won't get any performance from an x pipe. Just a little bit of sound. Fyi

Yeah deep down I kinda figured that lol. Just lining up my mods. I want to hear the 5.0 a little more. So are you saying this mod wont qualify for the "placebo effect" ? Haha

No you wouldn't get anything but sound. I've had too different catback exhausts on with running the stock one in between and felt nothing.
