I chose OEM glass... I’ve had my fair share of issues with aftermarket solutions, and they are typically substandard when it comes to clarity for me. I see waves depending on the angle I’m viewing through and reminds me of looking through glasses. I have never had an issue with OEM.

Does Safelite buy the oem-looking windshields from Ford, or are they reproduction?

I'm surprised more people don't have a rider on their policy. Mine I think is 45 a year. On my Legacy (w/Eyesight) I had 3 windshields done in two years. No charge. On my Mustang I got a chip and Safelite was out same day w/ repair- no charge. I'm in Colorado though and a lot of rocks etc are flying around...

Same here. I don't have anything special going on as far as I know with my pretty bare-bones Allstate policy. Safelite repaired my chip before I could finish reading an article in one of the mags on their table.

I hear mixed things about non- oem glass. I had a Fox Mustang fitted with non- oem glass and it was fine. My Buddy had an F150 and his non oem glass was so wavy, it was hard to see out of it. I think on something relatively new, oem is the best bet.

I've got a local private glass company that I've used for years. They've put a couple of windshields in my Rav4 through the years and recently replaced my GT's windshield. When I first approached them about the Mustang, they gave me prices on the OEM and the aftermarket. OEM was about $650 and aftermarket was about $350. They said they could get the sound deadening glass from the aftermarket as well so that shouldn't be a problem but it wouldn't have the Ford logo on it. I discovered my insurance would cover 100% so that's the way I went with the OEM glass. For the record, both windshields he installed on my Rav4 were just fine. No distortions or waviness noticed.
