I noticed that on window stickers back then too, I never could determine why.....

Well here is a curve ball, 2 Mach 1 A10 equiped cars, "Gas Guzzler" is listed on one and not the other!

That is confusing.

Same thing happened with the Bullitt. In this case one car was built in 20’, the other in 21’. Maybe Ford made their fuel economy numbers for FY 20’ and that’s why the tax was not Included.

Yes this reminds me, the tax is calculated on the prior year! So if you are looking at early builds of next MY cars, it wasn't listed!

As far as these M1s... yeah I don't get this.

Looking at those 2 particular window stickers, my guess is the one without the tax has a very early blend date.....Jan 7th. Based on when it was ordered it may have slipped in the system before the Mach 1 was given the gas guzzler tax officially? They definitely all have it now unfortunately.

I don’t think the springs are different but it does come with adjustable strut mounts as well.

Spring rates are different on the HP versus standard Mach 1's.

I put together a color coded chart using the supplemental manuals for the Mach1, GT350, and the GT500. Note that the front spring rate on the Mach 1 HP is the same as the regular GT350. But then look at the rear rates across the board, as well as the rear sway bars. The Mach 1 looks to be set up to favor understeer far greater than the GT350 or the GT500. The standard Mach 1 even more so.

The HP among other things, wider tires and wheels, second spoiler in front, larger rear spoiler in back, stiffer springs, different programming for suspension, it's intended for a road course track or autocross. The build tool in general for the mustang is missing things and has incorrect information . The wonders of perhaps outsourcing your IT department.

So, did the Bullitt have the Gas Guzzler tax as well?

As mentioned, it was added for 2020, although absolutely nothing changed on the car. The only change was the EPA rating, which went down by 1 MPG on both city and highway. So something obviously changed, but not sure why. So either Ford 'cheated' with the 2019, and had to revise figures on the 2020, or the EPA changed something. Does anybody know?

Very good info thank you. The order guide doesn’t list springs as being different but that chart is helpful to compare to the shelbys.
