So, i asked to see the window sticker on a mustang before i put the deposit down, and the vin as well as the bar code and convoy number are whited out. Is this a normal practice when someone requests the window sticker but has not yet put a deposit down?

Nope. Never ever heard of this before. I have bought a ton of new cars...Well over 20.

Are you ordering a new car or getting it transferred from another dealer? If it's a new order the window sticker isn't even available until it hits production. If it's a dealer transfer they should be able to show you the window sticker and even print you off a copy.

Its one i am told is in stock. But i dont see it on their website. So i asked to see the window sticker. And the information was covered in white out.

Sounds like another shady dealer, I would walk away and find a different dealer.

Yeah, what Raoh said, I'd be suspicious. There's nothing secret about a VIN, they are freely available for anyone to look at. Weird.

Yeah. Im starting to feel like theyre shady. Think ill never get a mustang at this rate. I think he is trying to do a bait and switch. He has a 2014 ruby red gt premium. And i think thats what he wants to sell me, and he wants to trick me into thinking its a 2015. Im going to see how they respond to my email about the missing information.

You can go to Ford's inventory site and search for the car. Just pick your dealer and then select extended inventory and you can narrow down the color and options enough to probably find the car and the vin and the window sticker...

It's not funny business. The guy wants to earn your business.

If he deleted the VIN, it's at another dealer that he would need to bring it in from.

He wants to keep you from looking up where the car is coming from, only to reach out to them to try and buy it from the other dealer.

He's investing time in trying to help you, and he's doing his best to secure your business.

It blows my mind some of the things you guys get bent out of shape over!

Question. Why not be honest and state it is coming from another dealer? I don't work in the business and never have so I assume there is a reason besides being afraid the customer might reach out directly to the dealer who has the car. Or maybe not.

I always like the people I deal with, on any purchase to be upfront but that is just me. If they are honest with me, I am honest and will give them the sale.

So, if another dealer has the car, why woukd he say he has the car on another lot. Thats what i dont get. Im having trouble trustijg any dealers what so ever right now, after i ask them to not call me becauae i work nights and guess how many times ive been woken up. 5 times in a week. My patience is wearing thin.
