Hey fellas,

as the title suggests, I've found exhaust pricing to be all over the place and I'm not sure why.

Why (in terms of cat back only for 5.0) would Gibson's exhaust kit from latemodelrestoration cost ~$650 versus, for example, magnaflow and ford racing which are well north of $1000? is it materials/ quality? perhaps supply and demand?

You realize there are large differences in stainless and muffler construction don't you?

I would see about getting a true custom exhaust from a respected shop and just bye some brand name tips. I don't think any tubing should be 1000, this is almost vette prices, even 650 seems high.

seem almost double the price of a 11-14 cat back.

Huge difference in cost and slight difference in weight in regards to 409 stainless and 304 stainless. 304 being the more expensive and better quality of the two.

For double the price, keep in mind that catbacks from the 11-14 years ended at the mid pipe whereas the 15's include the mid pipe and are actually labeled "cat back" correctly. When you add the price of a stainless Mid pipe (300-500) it actually adds up to about the same if not a little more than the 15 catbacks.

Yeah, some of the manufacturers charging 304 price on 409 systems is horse crap. I also find that the ones doing that are the same that don't mention the grade of SS used.

Catbacks for the '11-14 that include the x-pipe(Borla, Bassani, a few others) cost about the same(MSRP) as '15 exhaust systems. If I were in the market right now I would just wait for deals to become more common. I didn't pay MSRP on my Borla S-Types for my 2011 because I got them off eBay. Being a new car means it will take some more time for prices to drop where '11-14 systems are priced at now.

And of course, MSRP is going to be higher than if you contact a vendor directly to see what they can do for you pricing wise.

Any stainless is better that alumiunized steel. Seeing as my last mustang was 8 years old and had 17k miles on it, over paying for exhaust, to just say it's 409, wasn't going to happen.

Fyi, I had 3" 409 ran on my 69 z28 from the headers to the bumper with magnaflow mufflers for $1k total, just a year or so ago. Complete mandrel bent, not pieced together. Oh and that included stainless v bands on the headers and both sides of the muffler so I could pull the tail pipes or easily change the mufflers.

The prices they are asking for a computer bent, mass produced cat back is Nuts

I'm interested in what JBA is offering. Been trying to find any videos, sound clips, etc.. Adding up the cost of Long tubes, mid pipes with Cats, and the catback, the listed price comes in about $1700. Considering these others are about $1100-$1200 for just the catback. Seems to be a good deal, just want more info/feedback though.
