I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk or run the 200 yards from my office to my car to roll up the windows when it starts to rain unexpectedly. The worst part is that when I finally get to the car I can't just hit the window switch--I have to get in the car and switch it to accessory mode somehow before the window switches do anything. And on these new, pushbutton start cars, even when you mash that button, it takes "a while" for the windows to energize. Why don't they make the power window switches "hot" at all times?

Drains power somehow probably.

And if you're wondering more on why you can put them down from a distance but not up, I'd imagine that is more for liability in case someone/something got in the car and you unknowingly put the windows up which traps them in and they later die.

You leave your windows down (that often?) while the car is parked at your office 200 yards away from you?
