I appreciate this has been discussed in other threads but was hoping to get real life user experience. I am over in the UK have a 2017 with Whipple stage 2 and custom tune. The existing clutch is showing signs of going. There are few people over here who have gone the SC route and you could count on one hand those changing clutches. I have heard dual plate being grabby and hard to drive which is the last thing I want... i would like to keep it driveable. Potentially looking at Exedy Stage 3 single plate which is specced up to the power i am putting out but before i import it and spend huge amounts of cash and being pillaged for import duty and more tax it would be good to hear views and experience. Driveability is key but also hold the power. I have had a custom tune to about 740 at the fly if that gives any guidance? Really would welcome user experience !!!

Exedy stage three (Mach 500 for the S 197 setups) was my choice setup in 2 separate builds. I tried the twin disc in the first setup but did not like its street manners or the service provided by the mfgr. The Exedy Mach 500 worked well in both applications with 463RWT on one and 502 RWT on the other. Exedy rates in torque rating which is more accurate in my humble opinion. A bit heavier pedal than stock but that is to be expected on a heavier duty single disc clutch. But its not going to break your back. You may need to step up to a Mach 600 stage 4 depending on your torque level however. The Mach 500 stage 3 is rated 498T @ the wheel, and the Mach 600 stage 4 is rated 587T @ the wheel. YOu are stepping our of an organic clutch which may be a little less street friendly on engagement so you may choose to go with an organic twin disk capable of the torque level you will be producing, but you will have that classic twin disk shutter/chatter sound in lower rpm when lugging a bit in any gear. At least that was my experience with my twin disc.

My two clutch setups were making 507RWHP and 568RWHP respectively. Your setup should be about 65 higher at the wheel than my best on that according to your Flywheel estimate and using the standard estimated 15% power train loss constant. You can't go wrong with Exedy in my book but I never had to step up to their ceramic series. You may be good at the stage 3 level as well but that will depend on your final torque numbers.

The Exedy light weight steel flywheel is also a must have to complete the setup. It is almost to nice to hide behind the tranny.

Either way in the end I suggest not mixing and matching flywheel and clutch brands. Other than using a stock flywheel (if the clutch maker approves) stay same same. Saving a dollar now may only cause you frustration later on.

THanks for this, really useful info. The one I am thinking of importing is indeed the Mach 600 although on LMR site its down as a stage 3

.....no matter it should be fine for what I need as I am never really going to launch it down a drag strip - well not often ! I will be updating the fly wheel as you suggest, rather do it once and do it right !

By the time any Mantic clutch gets here and we are pillaged on import tax, and loads of others the price including fitting is about $5000 ! I do read good things about them of course !

Mantic is nice. If I had the money for a 13/14 GT500 and the dream build to boot, a Mantic would be a consideration. However as the old English saying goes, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride."

One last thing. Get the complete kit. Don't short cut replacing the slave cylinder. Most standard Exedy kits come complete with the slave cylinder in the kit. Don't be fooled by some who will price the kit without the slave cylinder. You're already in there, it's just added insurance. Nothing worse than doing it twice whether on your back or on your dime (ten pence).
