I have a coolant leak from the HE/intercooler circuit. Can’t see exactly where it is coming from yet. I checked all the hoses and no leak. What I can see, coolant is leaking out on top of the harmonic balancer and then it goes all over. It appears to be coming from under tb area. Taking the lid off tommarrow morning. Any ideas ? It’s a 2020 mustang with gen 5 whipple. I’m almost positive it’s intercooler circuit because I had to refill 2 times. Engine coolant isn’t loosing any at all. Any help is appreciated

1. First contact whipple

2. pull the lid and check the cross over orings.

if it’s leaking near the throttle body that’s likely where it’s coming from

The lid and the intercoolers get bolted together, if I’m not mistaken it uses the old style cross overs you just don’t see them.

They are serviceable on the consumers end.

Make sure you contact Whipple so they can get new O-rings to you ASAP

Use a bunch of oring lube or grease when reinstalling and you should be fine.

Thank you very much. Just got off the phone with whipple. Great customer service. I’m looking into converting intercooler lines to all -12 an. The rest of the system already is, just need the inlet and outlet fittings on lid. Know anything about those?

Just got the lid off, cross over oring is the big circle in the front of lid or is it somewhere else. Also does this look normal? The oil all over? Is that blow by? I’m assuming?

That’s the supercharger, the lid is the part you just removed.

the lid has the crossovers in it.

The crossovers connect the lid and the intercooler cores.

you need to look in the lid for signs of leakage

I don’t see any signs of coolant on the core side which is above the orange gasket.

look at the area that is outside that gasket and above the throttle body

A catch can will fix the oil in the supercharger…

All the oil is from the hoses coming from the valve covers and into the air intake. Your sucking all that oil vaper into the blower to burn it off. Stupid epa bs. Get a catch can for each side and it will help a lot.

I got it all taken apart finally. There appears to small sign of leak on bottom cross over bolts. Seal kit should cover that. I clean the lid out and my question is, should I take it to radiator shop and have core flush? Also whipple will tell me torque specs and all that putting it back together? Thnx for ur help. I just installed catch can 2 weeks ago

No need to to have the core flushed.

yes Whipple will tell you torque specs and anything that needs to be sealed.

post a picture of the area that showed signs of leakage.

It showed little signs. But I cleaned it already. It was dried up coolant/water on a few bolts and what looked like where leak was coming from crossover to lid. Im replacing orings for whole lid. I don’t see anywhere else it could leak from

I’m barely getting around to putting it back together. Turns out I drove a supercharger mustang but my electric scooter put me in ER and intensive care for 2 days. Amazing I appreciate your guys help and input.
