mustang v8 r/h/d to come
have a 2015 gt UK spec car
has about 1200 miles on it
have a grinding whining noise thru gearlever area in 1st 3rd and 5th
really bad on acceleration and over 2500 rpm
can hear it over radio
goes away if you lift up the reverse lockout ring
does not do it in 2nd 4th or 6th
been into dealer who has heard it
tech said not right but service manager came back today and said they cant find out why and their demo car is the same so ford wont pay to fix it
does anyone else have this problem or is it just common in the manual transmission ??

Barton's Shifter makes a lot of noise go away. The factory shifter is poorly isolated so it amplifies up through the shifter.

Some MT82's are just a bit noisy.
Mine was really loud but has quietened down alot after 500 miles.

Any update on this?

I have exactly same issue with OP. I'm planning to go to dealership sometime next week, but, I wonder what the issue is before I run to Ford..

took it to supply dealer
they looked at it and took the cowling off to see if it was lever
spoke to ford warranty who looked in their crystal ball again and said " yes its the propshaft and there is no cure"
funny how it is 1st 3rd and 5th only
prop turns in any gear
its clearly resonating noise thru the reverse lockout
will ,look at it myself at the weekend

Oh god....

So is that mean we have to live with it?

There must be a reason why ony 1,3, and 5th gears are making noise.

Weather is getting cold here and i found out thay this noise does not exist until the transmission gets little warm.

The longer I drive, noise becomes louder..

If it goes away when you lift up the reverse lock out ring, wouldn't that mean something is vibrating?

Same goes here. The lockout collar is creating the noise. Not a lot, but it goes away 80% if I lift that up during 2nd and 3rd. Wonder if aftermarket collar will fix the issue.

I have the same issue and my dealer said oh it's normal, my response was it wasn't when I bought it. It's a horrible annoying sound and doesn't seem to be a fix or ford doesn't see it as a problem. I read that ford doesn't want to have to open the trans to replace bearing or replace the trans. Idk just wish they would provide the quality the advertise.

Mine had same issue with clutch vibration. First dealership told me it's normal and no TSB opened for this.

My buddy from another dealership found out my pilot bearing has issue. Meanwhile, he also found crack on my shifter. I learned lesson not let anyone drive my car!

By the way, he offered to replace bearing, New set of Clutch, and new shifter at the same time.
