Spinning ain't winning. You would not be able to put any power to the ground with that setup. Many FI members have switched out their 3.73s to taller gearing just to get more traction, would be even worse with shorter 4.09s
I'm starting to realize that a lot of the misunderstandings on here are due to miscommunication. My fault for not fully explaining what I meant when I made the comment about 4.10s. I automatically assumed people would know what I meant.

A higher ratio just amplifies the torque to the wheels and with FI you don't need any more of that if you're racing ... that's why a significant gear swap on an NA car is probably the most noticeable mod outside of FI you can do. In terms of bang for the buck it's likely right at the top come to think of it.

What did you mean by the comment? My apologies if I've misunderstood

Lol, no not you. I just failed to fully or properly say what I was thinking when I made the initial comment about 4.10s. I assumed people would understand what I was saying. That was why I asked why those other guys said it was a stupid idea. Your reply made me realize that it was all just miscommunication.

4.10 gearing with a blower, seriously?
4.10's would complement a centrifugal blower nicely. That's because gears are - by definition - a torque multiplier and centrifugal blowers make very little bottom end torque. 4.10's would be horrible overkill with a positive displacement blower, though, since they make so much torque down low already.

4.10s with a PD blower would be the sickest thing out there. If you did the suspension and tires to support it, then you'd have a crazy DD monster.

The PMAS and Roush intakes are very well engineered, so that doesn't surprise me. I have however noticed many people deeply dislike JLT for some reason.

People that don't like JLT are usually the result of running into the owner on social media or the forums. His attitude doesn't do his company any favors.

Any cases of water intrusion into the intake with the JLT? Which intake would you recommend for my mostly stock car? Thanks.

I had zero issues with water in my JLT intake, and I'm in the Northeast where we get a variety of bad weather. I was also running Roush vents which are slightly more open than the stock ones, and still had no issue with water.

Excellent, thanks for that. I think I am down to JLT, PMAS, and Steeda. Leaning towards the JLT at the moment. The only thing deterring me from the Steeda is having to modify the stock airbox. I don't have a sawzall to cut it and if I were to mess it up, I would be unhappy.
