I remember reading after the Lincoln MKZ launch troubles Ford decided to change up how they launched the cars. Then I heard for the MKC they decided not to market the car until the cars were actually on the lots. I expect the same for the Mustang. I just hope when we see commercials they will be as good as that last one. I loved that commercial. But I do expect them to market the Ecoboost heavily.

THIS!

Makes sense to push once cars are readily available (and the expected quality has been achieved).

I too, hope they make some cool commercials. The GT/H is by far my favourite :)

Seriously? who sells more cars ford or dodge? pretty sure the one who sells more has the better marketing team. Dodge is going all out because they have been losing the sales war.

I fully expect to start seeing a big Ad push by Labor Day before these things go on sale. Maybe even late august, depending on when they expect them at dealerships. Xlover has a good point. People would be totally turned off and go buy something else
More people are talking about the hellcat than they are the Mustang...so in this instance Dodge's marketing team has done the better job. Go to reddit r/cars and see how many post and responses are about the hellcat..Then do the same for Mustang. You will find dozens about the hellcat and three or four for the Mustang. The mustang threads you will find are f35, stats released and Gt350 at the ring. The hellcat has "two hellcats go head to head", "hellcat is fastest production muscle car" "videos from the president of Dodge about hellcat"..It goes on and on...You can say that's a Halo vs a general release but it's a marketing strategy...The strategy that worked and created a marketing buzz is a "blaze the way with your halo" instead of this stupid slow leak strategy everyone else has adopted....

The hellcat news completely overwhelmed the GT350 "leaked" shots at the ring that ford obviously put out there to one up the hellcat and get back in prime time. I HIGHLY doubt that had been in the works prior to the hellcat announcement and I do believe the news floating around that Ford was p*ssed" with Dodge with the hellcat. If I was at Ford I would be...Their marketing team just owned the release of your new technology showcase car...No matter what Ford does it's going to be "Yeah but the hellcat". I don't like Dodge but you better believe other car makers have noted their marketing strategy.

Talking and buying are two different things. While I agree with you, this is a piss poor marketing job Ford has done launching this vehicle. I do not think it will however translate into less sales than the Dodge. I do however think they won't get as many sales as they could have. I expect the new GT350 to get about as much marketing as the z28 if that's what it's looking at for competition. Which imo wasn't all that much, decent but not like the hell cat is getting. Now if ford comes out with a high hp mustang I fully expect them to go all out with it. In the past Ford has had some of the best tv ad's I don't expect that to really change once the car is on the lots. They are just really horrible at getting their car noticed presales. However they are doing a damn good job with the f150, but that is their bread and butter after all.

But we will see, I could possibly see the first couple months going to dodge but I don't see it going past that. I really don't have any grounds to base that on besides the fact the challenger is getting a lot of visibility. It's just that, besides the hellcat, dodge hasn't fixed any of the things that were wrong with the car in the first place...ie weight. Not to sure how much that plays into the average person buying a car. HP, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times sell cars so as long as Ford gets those numbers out before the dodge goes on sale, I don't think the Dodge has a chance. Plus the ecoboost marketing strategy seems to be working well for ford so far with it's other vehicles. I expect it to carry over to the mustang just as well.

nice set of commercials. My Fav was the little girl at the end where the car just knew she was going all pink until her inner self showed through. I'm sure at delivery we are going to start seeing more hit the airwaves. From a business standpoint you cant blame Ford. There are more than a few '14's still at dealer sites.

I'm don't think you can count these ads, but I really enjoy the #InAMustang videos on the Ford Mustang YouTube channel:

These videos got me REALLY excited about getting my Mustang. Less than 2 weeks till mine goes into production!

Let's just hope the ad campaign is better than the Mustang Inspires series they had leading up to launch.
