Don't like to worry you but that image is timestamped 31/12/15. Might want to check the cars still there ;)

Haha I didn't literally mean right this second , it's outside the office right now. I meant that's the view the camera has on it when I'm at home :)

This is the view it has currently, I reckon that's probably just about correct? Maybe lower it a bit so it overlooks less of the houses and more of the path leading to the house. It isn't fixed at the minute though & wherever I put it I need to make sure it's within reach of one of my network switches so I can run some cat6 to it.

I'd move it down, so that you can see if someone jumps the fence, and then to the right so that the garage door is on the very far right edge. It's more angling, the vantage point looks fine to me :)

On the drive for me but fully covered by CCTV. Never worried me too much... what will be.. will be.

On a related note; does anybody know how close the key has to be to the car (roughly) to be able to open it?
Also (don't expect this by any means but imagination running wild here), someone sits in drivers seat with you standing alongside; "very nice mate... lovely" etc etc. Pushes start button & off.
Do I assume right that the car will disable when a certain distance away from the key?

3 car garage FTW! in a gated community.

My cars do not sit out at night if i can ever help it. I was once a punk kid and I know what they are capable of.

I wouldn't assume this. Wife's Qashqai will run quite happily (other than the display bitching) while the key's gone off shopping...

Same with the wife's Captur. I dropped her of at her friends in it a week or so ago, drove away and got down the end of the road before I realised she had the key in her hand bag.

I park in my garage at night and at work I park in the very far back where no one else parks. Luckily we have tons of parking. If it's raining I park in the parking deck and I will also do this in the summer to keep the car cool. Even in the deck I find places where no one else parks. I don't mind walking a few extra feet for peace of mind!

Brilliant. Great gadget but not fully thought out then?

I'm off for a pen & paper. Time to design lead-lined trouser pockets

My ST goes mad if you get out of the car with the key and the engine is running (beeps and display warning).

I'm guessing it's not the same with the 'tang?

The car needs to be running before the key leaves though...

Qashqai won't allow me to unlock it using the door handle button at the drivers side if wife/key are at the passenger side. And it wouldn't allow my old man to start it with me/key stood outside the vehicle. No idea about the Stang...

If you're worried about theft, stick your keys in a tin, or put them in your bedside drawers, away from the doorway. or wrap it in a lead cover that way the signal will never go through .
You don't need lead, just something like this: http://www.fobguard.com/

It needs to be fine enough to block a signal of 315MHz or less.

A mate of mine swears that it is better to leave the keys downstairs, and I've heard stories on forums of people being woken in the night and forced to hand them over. :paddle: If they were going to nick it, I'd rather they just grabbed the keys and left without causing any distress. :ninja:

Distance on the mustang is very short for locking, engine I think/hope has a 'safe-stop' mechanism input into it (Total asumption) and it'll shutoff, once the car stops/comes to a hault at traffic lights, much like akill switch. If it doesn't have that - someone really needs to implement it.

I'm aware lead isn't needed, bit of a joke because it's so overkill!!

Did you make that up? ;)
In all honesty I'd rather have the ability for my wife to drive back to where she left me, rather than have her stuck at some junction with an immobilised car.
As someone said earlier I think we're overplaying this. The most likely of an unlikely set of scenarios is someone breaks into your house, steals your keys then your car.

First bit, no, second bit, yes, more an idea than something it has.

There's a video on youtube type '2015 mustang keyless' and it's a guy in a parking lot, in america, he walks 2 metres away and tries to open the car without the fob (fob is 10m away hes at the car, wont work), it's pretty short to lock/unlock.

Be interesting if someone with one does a test, to test the radius of it, both distance to lock/unlock and distance before the car starts being a total annoyance beeping and sh1t without the key.

As for something previously mentioned, i'd rather someone tried to wake me up for the keys than jacked it without it. Good luck finding my room :lol:
