Renting a GT in Las Vegas on Sunday with another guy from the office who has a GT convertible on order to do either :
692 round trip to Seligman;
823km round trip to Williams; or
1018km round trip to Grand Canyon South Rim.

I have done this route 4 times but only ever on Harley's when riding across the US.
Destination all depends on how ugly Saturday night gets
I've got no words :headbang:

Except good luck, have fun, and share some thoughts/photos of the stang when you get back!

Sensational!

I wish there was a physical address... Because I would literally go there and beat someone down

Not even joking.

Gave all my details. Asked in the nicest way possible. 3 days. All 3 days they viewed my message. And chose to ignore it.

Fuck ford...
It's ok they ignore me also :) I have stopped bothering and will get the car whenever it comes

Hi Melbnut, I have been a lurker for some time and enjoy reading the various posts but yours is the first one that reflects a mature attitude to your wait for the car. I am not accusing others of being immature necessarily but there are a lot of impatient people who have ordered mustangs on this forum. I also don't think Ford Australia have necessarily f*#%ed up the order process as bad as some state as I believe that they themselves have not had much control over the build process and the reason they are not providing feedback is probably because they have little information themselves (e.g. delivery dates are obviously being generated in the U.S and appear to be very fluid and changing all the time). I do think Ford Australia could have explained the situation better to the people with deposits but that may have been admitting that they do not know much themselves.
I agree with Melbnut that the cars will arrive when they arrive and we can't do anything to make that happen any quicker. It would be great to have a breakdown of when each vehicle is built and where it is on it's journey to us but that information appears difficult to get and also not always accurate or consistent.
Thanks for letting me express my opinion and if I offended anyone, i apologize in advance.

I am one of the worst... Well I was, now I am in acceptance I am past anger. Basically I know ford have completely screwed the Comms campaign on this car and it has definitely cost them. At some point my car will come and until then I can't really do anything about it at all

Appreciate your opinion George.

I don't agree that it's a maturity attitude. For me it is very simple and the entire baseline from which I believe those that contribute actively to this forums discussion threads base their comments on, and that is the lack of COMMUNICATION.

I have said on a number of occasions that I am more than ok to receive bad news from an organization I have placed an order with and a reset of expectations as we move to delivery. However no communication is inexcusable as is the promise to respond within a timeframe that is missed.

The fact that we can all receive updates from USA Ford Customer Service and not from our own country is for me an issue and one I have highlighted direct to Ford Australia.

That said .... my delivery will be within 4 weeks of the indicative timeframe expectation set back in December 2013 of 1st week of November, so I am happy with my current December 5 ETA as I suspected it would slip to December anyway.

The fact that I have received a personal communication from Ford Australia "..... I can commit to you, that you will receive a personal phone call on Monday giving you a detailed update and explanation for the delays. This phone call will be from a senior member of the Ford Australia team and should give you the answers you are looking for." suggests to me my approach to Ford re communication issues has been reasonable, professional, valid and it would appear ... mature.

Polystang, welcome to the forum....all opinions are gratefully accepted.
As our mate Melbnut mentioned, he, along with most of us all fall into the impatient and undernourished with information category....it has been a long wait for many people, full of dissapointment.
Have you placed an order yourself, and if so , how long have you been waiting.
I am guessing that you have not tried to garner any information yourself from Ford.
If you had then maybe you would understand our anger....
Somewhere between the no information and the misinformation is where most of us lost our patience.

Ford run a car sales business right?

So all they really needed to do to keep us (me?) from getting frustrated is simply:

1) Once order is placed - send through Ford Oz email confirming order (only some received this email from FordOz)

2) Send through email explaining general schedule i.e.
a) There will be an "It's yours email" 2-3 months from build date, confirming the next batch has been allocated for production
b) Explain VIN will be issued about 5-6 weeks before production
c) Explain which websites can be used to track car's progress i.e. Ford Etis + window sticker site etc

3) Send some free sh!t for those who have been waiting for more than 6 months (keyring, cap, anything fergawds sake, just to keep us happy). Hell even if they sent it to the dealer to collect, i'd drive down and shake a few hands which I did anyway, but only got the outdated brochure instead.

4) FordOz could also have notified all deposit holders which dealerships in Oz were going to be showing the car. I literally found out at 4pm that a dealer was showing a car in Perth, and promptly left the office that same day.

All of the above was Fords job, FORD'S ONE JOB, to sell us a car we've always wanted...

...but I found out about it all through forums and social media.

One of my colleagues who has purchased beemers all his life says he receives little bits and bobs in the mail from BMW non stop, just to keep the brand at the forefront of his mind and a repeat customer for them.

That's the difference, it seems. And it keeps people coming back to overpriced kubelwagens. Glorious, overpriced kubelwagens.

( you E92 M3)

It doesn't take much, but silence is incredibly frustrating.

I dont even know where to start....and more importantly prevent the post from becoming a rant.
Ok...so lets take a step back..let's look at Ford Motor company Australia. For all practical purposes, now relegated to a reseller, but a large organsition which sells cars in Australia through dealerships.
If you do a quick search on Google or Linkedin for Ford Product Manager, the search will give you a number of results, confirming that there is indeed such a role as a "product" manager within Ford. Product managers, own the product, their procurement/production, marketing and future roadmap. They do not do these activities themselves but more importantly bring it together and in most probability own the P&L for the product or product line.
And this is where my quandary increases... how is that that Ford does not have a handle on aspects such as the trim, (coarse grain leather or not etc. ) and other points such as what's included in the PP ( Kbrace etc. ). It has now been over 7 months since ford had announced formal pricing, surely at that point they had locked in the specs of the car fully. The updated brochure has errors, surely that should costs heads within Ford...either the product manager needs to get sacked (for not catching the errors) or the marketing intern who put it together.

Let's look at production and logistics, yes things change...slippages happen. BUT, you have to have a plan that you are working against. And we have people who dont have cars going to production for months getting VIN's and others who are supposed to have cars going into segmentation in a couple of weeks, not have any information.

And mind you this is for a car which is the most expensive car in their portfolio !

So yes we are holding out, cause it is a mustang and for each of us it means something. But what ford has done is definitely made me swear off ford for any other purchases.

I can understand and appreciate the frustration felt when not enough information comes your way and yes I have ordered a 6MT Race Rd GT Coupe back on 5th March this year. I have spoken to my dealer and have tried Ford directly without any success. I have seen others who ordered after me receive welcome e-mails, NSC codes and VIN numbers and I haven't seen anything form Ford as yet. I was told delivery would be around February 2015 but most likely will be stretched out from there.
As I have no control over information provided to me I have decided to just wait until I am told your car is here and ready to be picked up and then I will let myself get excited. I do recall Ford stating some time ago that deliveries would begin in December so people waiting 18 months or longer since placing their deposit would still have known a rough delivery date. If it is 1 or 2 months later then that, I don't think that is that big a delay.

Just as I was typing out the last response I received an email from my dealer informing me of a factory order number and an ETA of 27th February. That is the first communication I have had from Ford! Still don't completely believe the delivery date though!

Well there you go! How's that for timing haha!

The difference between you and some of us is that you're happy to sit and wait.

And in many ways, from a 'stress' POV, it's perhaps the better way to be.

I like to know everything about the process and I look for infos just as something fun to chase up and do, but sometimes it leads to frustration in the process.

We'll have the exact same feeling on the other end when we finally bury the loud pedal, it's just a different way of waiting.

How about that...good news and communication from Ford on the same day.....you are a lucky man Polystang.
I can see why you are patient...you only ordered in March this year....I ordered in December last year and will receive mine after yours......see where the anger comes from....

Err not to rub it in... didnt you get at least a cap and a keyring from your dealer? I thought most people with deposit would have gotten them on dealer's launch day.

Everyone's getting treated differently and that's not very nice.
