Wheel spacer question

I bought some wheels from CJ PP and they neglected to tell me that the fronts will not fit the dust caps without a spacer.

I found some quarter inch spacers locally. A quarter inch okay to run on the front?

They are Niche Essens 10 inch wide 20s +40mm

Sorry to hear that man ya the 20x10 essen needs a 3 to 5 mm spacer for the grease cap to work

1/4" is 6.56 mm so based on that a 5mm spacer will do and you are fine with that it will still allow you the proper amount of turns with the lug nuts for a secure fit.

Thanks they seem to work. They're actually 5/16 the 1/4 weren't the right bolt pattern.

Follow up I bought some 72.62-70.5 metal hub centric rings and they aren't fitting on the hubs. Seem a tiny tiny bit too to go on for some reason. Am I missing something?

so their 8 mm youll be fine

as for the hubrings dont take offense but let me ask

1. Did you make sure your putting them in the right way ( they have a bezel that allows it to fit in just one way)

2. their supposed to be tight so you can put on a bit of lub around the ring then slide them on.

Yup they have a bezel which goes toward the hub. There is a lip as the other end fits in the back of he wheel fine. I tried lube and it's just just too snug. I'm afraid to hammer them on the hub or anything.

Maybe because the hubs are warm and try when they're cool?

Ive had them be super snug before like that and what Ive ended up doing was lubed it and used a small rubber mallet and tapped them in there with no issues.

the specs all match up to the wheel and the car so you dont have the wrong stuff its just super snug.

Thanks for everything I got everything on. With the spacer I dont even think the front hubcentric rings were needed honestly; although the spacers are not hubcentric just generic ones.

Felt like I was going to snap the bolts torquing them to 150 ft lbs though every time.

Their ok, but the issue I see is the thread on the studs is 1/2 unf the car takes a 14mmx1.5 thread on the factory studs so I personally would keep it the same this way you dont have two different lug nuts you need to use for the application

14mmx1.5 to put the adapter on the hub and the 1/2 unf to put the wheel on the adapter

Just wanted to thank you again for answering. I got everything on, albeit a bit more bruised/cut up than I was yesterday. The rings went on easy, of course the hardest hub was the first one I tried. I had tried hammering the dust caps flatter to fit before starting the thread and getting spacers, but that obviously wasnt getting anywhere fast as those are some heavy metal.

I got some generic spacers at autozone today on the fly, but they were barely lug centric and moved around on the lugs which worries me a bit about balance so I ordered some hub centric 70.5 bore 3mm spacers. I figured they'd be better being hubcentric than so generic with large bolt holes even if they're cranked on there it can't be perfect to stop wheel vibrations.

If CJPP didn't give me an absolute steal I would've bought them from you. I still dont know how they made money on what they sold the package to me for, at even less for the package then their website offers which was already a good deal, plus the sugar on top of getting $100 of bonus point on their site. It was too hard to pass up at the price.

Just FYI I ordered some 3mm hubcentric spacers which fit like a glove but won't clear the center cap :doh: they're like a hair too small just pushing up one of the edges of the centercap barely to where it'd pop off driving on bumps. And I don't want to mess with the dust caps (plus a botch to get off) 5mm wouldve fit perfect. I'll have to order 5mm luckily they were only $16


But honestly for the spacer does hub centric for daily driving make that big a difference over the generic spacer that are lug centric (small oval around the lug not right on the lugs) to take off the wheels a 3rd time and order a 5mm set? I haven't notice much vibration at all. Doesn't it get centered by the lug nuts and clamped down by the lug torque anyway?
