Soooo my driver side

window switches
Power lock button
Door pulls

have all cracked, bubbled and peeled. )=

I have no clue what's causing this. I'm not hard on the door and don't open/close any differently then previous cars which have never experienced this

same cleaning chemicals are used on both doors and passenger/rest of car is fine.

car is a weekend warrior/nice day car so I don't use car to do anything practical or dirty from work in it.

anybody ran into this over the years??

Could it be exposed to more sunlight depending on where you park it.

Wasn't there a thread made about cracked window buttons not all that long ago?

thought that. But not totally sure. My car is parked outside and I typically have a windshield cover on the front and sides. What would bother me is this probably my 10th car in my 42 years of life and all parked outside not a single one has ever done this. However it's the first car to at I've had that does sit for a bit versus being driven mostly every single day.

For reference I use front and side sun blockers which I would think would keep temps down and rays away.

-What cleaning chemicals do you use? Are you using just a cleaner, or a cleaner with a potectant against UV ect?

-oils from your fingers and hands (worse if your hand lotion user) combined with heat/sun/UV can damage the thin top coat on buttons and accelerate the degrading process.

-A quality protectant with UV blocking should provide decent protection.

- I think the polymer coatings for plastics has changed over the past 10 years. Much like our paints, to comply with VoC standards. Before when the coatings began to degrade they would become sticky. Now they just seems to peel. But I'm speculating.

My car lives outdoors and gets baked in the sun hard. No problems like yours.

It really does look like a chemical to me.
Does someone drive who wears lotion?

This happened to my wife's car we think it was because she used hand sanitizer all the time through COVID. My wife spilt some on the console and it did that same thing.

The use of the front and side covers should remove the UV variable.

Agree with others: study what's on your hands, what's used to clean these surfaces. I understand you're using the same cleaning products throughout the interior. But, are those areas as well used by passengers? If they are, with the same, routine forces, but are otherwise OK, I'd be comfortable it is not the cleaning agent.

Items with low pH levels are acidic. Vinegar is acidic. So is alcohol.

Items with high pH levels are basic/alkaline. Bleach, lye, etc; these can be just as dangerous to surfaces.

Many auto detailing products list they are pH neutral or close to that; they often state how frequently, how much of or on what materials an item can be used. Most can be used as often as you like on the correct surface. Some though, only sparingly. It's an extreme example, but a previous thread, the Owner was using a decon solution on their wheels almost every wash; the rotors and hubs were deteriorating rapidly, the wheel finish fading quickly.

Hand sanitizers have a high alcohol content.

Skin conditioners can sometimes create as many problems.

A previous thread with something of a similar issue: the Driver's AT shift knob was "melting", the finish deforming.

If after looking at all that, it doesn't seem to be a cleaner or something on your hands, I see you have a '22. If still under warranty, I'd discuss with the Service Advisor about filing a claim.

You raise a great point that the passenger side may remain intact from lack of use

 Hope everything works out.

I looked at the interior products you're using. If considering those products myself, I would not use one on top of the other (if that's how currently being applied), regardless how frequently either is used. One seems to be geared towards sanitizing and anti-static, the other, cleaning and protecting. The two together, from two different manufacturers...not knowing how they react with one another, I'd not be comfortable using them both.

Best Wishes though. :please:

Edit,

To clarify my thoughts...Like you, I use an interior detailer for general purpose cleaning, spot cleaning and dusting. For protection, I use a protectant; it has no cleaning potential.

My overall concern is the CarPro and Koch items, fine by themselves, both appear to be cleaners or have a cleaning function, with their own mix of agents.
