Hello all,

I have decided on aftermarket wheels that are offered in 20x10 et25 or et42. An 8.5" is also offered in the same offsets. I am leaning towards 20x10 et42 all the way around.

An airlift suspension is on its way and I would like to be able to air it out or come close at times. However, I also don't like the stretched tire look and like some bow out of the tire from the wheel for protection and personal aesthetics. (I like the look of my current setup of a 265/35 on the 20x9" foundry wheel.)

Also Paul@PKAUTODESIGNs, I am not going to be running AC fenders now I don't think, so I assume an ET25 upfront with a 10" wide wheel would be pushing it without some negative camber?

So my questions are:

1. If I do 20x10 et42 on all 4 corners, what size tires are recommended, and are there any advantages/disadvantages to running all 4 the same size, or running narrower up front and wider in the back?

2. Any advantage/disadvantage if I did the 8.5" et 25 wheel up front? If so, what size tire?

Thanks

hey brotha

What wheels because also factor X factor for the setup.

20x10 ET 42 is fine, now if your airing out to slam the car 275/30/20 is the best option.

If you do a 8.5 ET 25 is what you want and a 255/35/20 is fine and rear 275/35/20

So I've been tire shopping and have found these tires to have good reviews for the price. I think I'm going to stick with summer tires because I don't pull the car out that much in the winter, and can live with only bringing it out in the off season when the temps are above 50 degrees.

1. Continental Extreme Contact DW (9.2" tread width)

2. Sumitomo HTR Z III (9.9" tread width)

Wanting to keep it under $200 per tire.

The Conti's are rated a little better but I'm concerned about the tread width being too narrow and they don't make a 285 (based on that tire article that was shared by Stuntman. Should this be a concern?

Also, if there are any other good summer tires in this price range feel free to suggest.

Thanks

You're not going to beat the Conti's at the price on tirerack.

Both are a really good choice to be honest with you. Conti is better ranked.

So you all would choose the Conti's over the Sumitomo even if the tread width is a better fit with the Sumi's?

Just because the price is really good, other then their both solid options.

The tread width on the conti is less because the shoulders are more rounded than the sumi. The section width (overall width) is most likely identical for both. Tirerack uses an arbitrary technique to calculate tread width and after reading about it, I wouldn't think too much of the difference as their technique is really just a ballpark anyways.

Thats a hell of a explanation.
