This is out of motor tread magazine talking about the 2015

The new Mustang GT rips 'round the figure eight in 24.7 seconds, pulling 0.84 g average in the process. That's not only quicker than the last Mustang GT (25.0 seconds at 0.77 g average), but it's also a better performance than the last Mustang Boss 302 (24.7 seconds at 0.78 g average)

Not positive about that. But the guy driving it would make a big difference. Don Kitch is the chief instructor and he probably has more laps around that place then anyone. One thing I remember was him telling us to do the perfect lap around the track you only turn the steering wheel 8 times for a track that has 9 corners.

Whenever he took a passenger for a fast lap he'd use a Miata even though the school also had Lotuses. The class I took we used out own cars.
I am looking at the map right now I tried to imagine it. I keep getting 9 wheel turns myself. I can't see where he's cutting.

That instructor truely is masterful.

1st or 2nd best sounding factory Mustang EVER… depending on who you ask.

At the time, B302 LS was the pony pentacle. A 2016 and 2013 Mustang are night and day in performance.

Usually I don't get passed by Miatas. I generally pass them and I am a consistent driver as my karting times are pretty consistent as well. He passed me effortlessly. The only thing I could notice is significantly less roll and sway compared to others.
Some of those have a 302v8 in them.

He would arc the dragstrip. The white concrete wall in the picture ends were the road course enters the dragstrip (course runs counter clockwise). To get it right you needed to miss that wall by a few inches and hold the wheel still and you could exit the dragstrip without moving the wheel. That way you could hold it wide open and the arc was so gentle it didn't cost any top speed. They wouldn't let us try that, and since it was my car I wouldn't have wanted to try.

I have heard of corners like that. If you're set up right, you don't need to move the steering wheel. I have only gotten that right a handful of times but I am unsure what guidelines dictate when to use that method.

a good driver can outdrive a many a mustang in a Miata going in reverse. Any moron with no skill at all can go fast in a straight line.
...I used to outdrive people when I had a v-6 Ranger 4x4.
Made many look bad.
It is all in your skill level. (guts help)
Of course, after the over-hp engines came along, it was HARD to outdrive
most because the cars were soooooo fast..............

I had a beautiful low mileage 2013 race red Boss. The car was great, so much fun to drive had an attitude to it. Sound was fantastic. I got rid of the Boss to purchase a 19 GT350 which then got sold to purchase my present 500. Funny I don't miss the 350 but do wish I had kept the Boss to go along with my 500.
