What is prestige paint?

Hello guys, Its Krish with another question to all mustang owners.

As you all know I am at the verge deciding on the colour of my pre-ordered 2015 Mustang GT. I am more inclined towards Absolute black. Meanwhile, I saw that for colours like absolute black and magnetic we can go for "Prestige paint" option for an additional price of $500(AUD). What exactly is prestige paint? What is the difference between the normal paint and the prestige paint? Which one is better?

If someone had gone with that option can you post the pics of your cars so that I can feel the difference.

I suspect it may be tied to specific colors such as triple yellow and ruby red as these colors are either a 3 coat process or has colored clears is a quick guess.

Sounds like a $500 paint protection package offered by your stealership.

But it is something which is mentioned in Ford's Brochure (which I downloaded from ford Australia website).

i know that if you want colors such as ruby red , there is a 395dus up charge for those colors

You'll need some "Prestige patience" with a black car. LOL. good luck!

They call any of the metallic or tri colour paint 'prestige' paint. Only the solid colours don't incur the additional charge.

It's the same with all of the manufacturers over here, some just have different names for it.
