I'm trying to put rear springs in but I've been unsuccessful with following the videos showing unbolting and dropping one side of the subframe (I don't have a 280lb friend). It seems like its the sway bar that's preventing pushing the arm down. If I disconnect the sway bar though, whats holding the arm up? Is it just going to fall out?

I just did this yesterday by dropping the subframe one side at a time. Pretty straightforward install, but you have to get kind of creative. I got my weight on top of the rotor and pushed it down a few times, and that gave me a little room. Then I used a couple long thick screwdrivers kind of like prybars. One side came out in under 5 minutes, the other side took maybe 15.

If you don't want to drop the subframe BMR has directions that tell you what needs to be unbolted.

I'm thinking maybe I put a stack of 45lb plates under the arm and winch it down. :frusty:

Unhook the rear-most exhaust hangers. It is preventing the subframe from dropping down all the way.

When I did my rear bags. Unhooking the exhaust hangers allowed the subframe to drop enough to where the springs just fell out.

+1 on this method. The sway bar hits the exhaust and will not drop anymore. I unbolted my axleback exhaust and I got enough clearance.

Sorry to have to ask but do you mean the hangers at the diff or the 2 bolt hangers at the rear bumper?

Definitely the ones at the rear bumper. It has been awhile since I did it and I am not sure if I unhooked the ones at the diff as well.

You will be able to tell when you start to lower the subframe. Watch to see if it stops and rests on the muffler.
