I wondered the same thing and thought the dealer was manipulating the numbers but when I went home and built the car through x-plan the total came out the same.
Was that using Ford's X-Plan tool? Did it also break out the advertising charge? If it came out the same, then that "advertising assessment" charge must be in there too.

Yes I used the x-plan tool. No, but the invoice $#'s were different also. Both final prices were exactly the same. Weird, but as long as that's what I pay, I don't care.

That is weird. Is it possible to post the side-by-side differences, was it the invoice price on the base car charge?

Some how that same $645 "advertising assessment "charge is getting thrown into the mix.

I care about infotainment
Get what you want to get -- it's tough with all that money on the table -- look at the '16 order guide, see if what you really want will only come with a '16, and base your decision on that. As for me, I think the only option I wish I could get that I don't have arriving in a couple of days is the choice of wheel color on the Performance Pack -- but with what you'll be saving in Private Cash, you'll just about be able to buy another set of rims anyway...
I'm really excited about SYNC3/Android Auto and that's the one thing that has made me hold off on the 2015s so far. It's been an ongoing back and forth for weeks. I've written down the pros and cons of 2015 vs 2016 and I'm still back at square one but leaning 2016 slightly. Ultimately it's more financially responsible to just get a 2015, but I won't be as happy with it as I would with a 2016.

From what I can tell, the advertising is built in the X-plan but doesn't show while you are building it. Once you option out the car, it breaks it down to even the fuel charge.

^^^ Thanks, I see that. Yeah, that "advertising assessment" charge is apparently also buried in the X-Plan tool from Ford. Good to know for guys doing the X-Plan purchase. Don't know if the dealership would negotiate on that or not ... doubt it. Still a good deal.

Guys, the advertising fee is not a hidden fee. X Plan price simply lists everything that is included in the price.

It seems to be hidden in the Ford X-Plan tool as 5.0Fireman showed. All of the prices in his on-line print-out from the Ford sight have slightly higher prices than the "Invoice" prices shown on the other source of information. Ford spreads that $625 over all the prices break downs so it is buried into the bottom line price.

There was a price increase in Dec/Jan so I am guessing that may be outdated. When I bought mine the X Plan price I paid matched the price on the Ford site when I built mine in November. On my DORA the charges were pretty clear and I didn't feel anything was hidden because it's explained in the plan rules. It looked to me like the advertising fee was included in the X Plan price and it's better than paying that plus the ridiculous dealer and document fees you pay without X Plan.

I ordered this week. Nothing there is outdated. I agree it's still better than paying outrageous dealer fees :)

Obviously the advertising fee is included in the X-Plan, but as 5.0Fireman has shown, it is not broken out as a separate item when you go build a Mustang on Ford's website. You have to see other sources/break downs of the X-Plan price to see that advertising fee.

Man things are rough out here in new york. everyone down south getting close to 5k off MSRP. Put in my custom order earlier this morning and this was the best price possible between 4 dealers. 1 offered a true care price for $200 less than what I paid but I was afraid of getting charged for BS dealer fees.

2015 GT Premium (Race Red)
GT Performance package
Ebony Leather Recaro seating
MSRP $41,215

Sold for $38,811 - $500 cash rebate = $38,311
+8.625% New York Tax, $75 doc fee, $10 NYS inspection, $12.50 waste tire management fee?

Out the Door price $41,756
