Yep, this is ultimately what matters. I always tell a dealer they can add on whatever fees they like as long as I get an OTD price of $XX,XXX. They can charge me $2000 for washing the car for all I care, as long as my OTD price is the limit I've set.You can try, but they might say they can't do it on that, but can on something else. I don't usually negotiate on separate pieces of the cost of the car. I negotiate on 3 things, what I want to pay for the car OTD, then what I want to get for a trade in (if applicable) and what I want for financing (if applicable).
Zooming in on the car, if they discount the transportation, application fee, msrp, or whatever else, who cares? Point is I want to walk out the door after paying taxes and tags for $x amount. If they can make it happen, great.
All of that said:
I believe x plan delivery and destination is $825 and is what Ford charges the dealer so $800 sounds good. Just make sure they aren't making it up somewhere else (I don't think they are, both Koons Ford Baltimore and Koons Ford Sterling are SOLID).
Thankfully the Koons Baltimore rep didn't play any games and just gave me straight up OTD price quote on what I was looking for. I'm seriously considering driving/flying up there and just buying/ordering from them.
