Completed Dynamat project stage 2 last night. A layer of Dynamat extreme and a layer of Dynaliner for the heat. Stage 1 was the entire trunk including spare tyre well, under the parcel shelf, rear wheel arches, under and behind the sub and all interior panels. Crappy cell phone pic shows half of the progress.

Stage 2 was under the rear seats, top of the parcel shelf, centre console, and floor pan up to about half of the floor matts. Again, crappy iphone pics of the progress underway. All body panels were covered in the end.

Stage 3 will be the doors. Already made a huge difference to the rattles and vibration in the car as a result of the Magnaflow Competition catback. Probably wasn't the best idea to do it in the basement car park as the humidity was evil. Ended up having to change clothes half way through as I was soaking in sweat. On the plus side I burnt 6,300 calories.
Every thought about using a spray on liner like this?

Time for the bushing lockout kits. I just ordered the Diff kit from Steeda and the cradle kit from BMR. Can't wait to solidify the back end of this coupe. Plus I have the Steeda Ultralite linear springs coming as well.
So what do you think of the Liquid Gold you used on the car? You never said if it had a better shine than Zaino.

It has been about 10 years since I have used zaino. I would say, this as good of a gloss as I have seen.

Interesting article. Thanks for that. I am in no way qualified to comment on the points or put forward any argument against them however all I can offer is what i've noticed (it works as advertised or perhaps due to the Dynamat just adding an extra layer between myself and the 'sound' as suggested in the link). There's a substantial decrease in vibration throughout the car and after doing the trans tunnel the manual shifting clunk is significantly less audible. Interestingly the exhaust volume has not reduced by much (perhaps a few db but really not very noticeable) and is still deep and aggressive however the road noise has been reduced dramatically and I expect this to be even more noticeable after doing the doors. Another point is that the stock sound system in the car performs a little better i.e. I can hear it louder and clearer than before at the same volume.

Total weight added is about 35lbs which to some may be a lot, however this is my daily not a track monster and I plan F/I down the road. Probably negated the weight reduction from getting rid of the stock exhaust mufflers and suitcase. I'd say the amount of work is probably not worth the result but I learned a lot about the car and it's definitely more comfortable inside now so i'm pretty happy. Still going to do the doors.

Most importantly I will be testing the temps in the centre console glove box to see if there's any difference. Last I measured, after 40 minute commutes in the middle of the day here in Dubai, in summer, pushing it moderately, the temps in the glove box got to around 120-140*F (50-60*C). Ipod was too hot to touch so if there's a reduction in heat inside the car i'll be even happier.

Went to the dealer and got it's 2nd (complimentary) oil change at 7,200 miles, come to find out they recommend every 5,000 miles, so I was a bit quick on the draw, lol.

The guy working on it liked my moddication 8" screen/nav system with a surf video I had on it. :D

Get one of these, and maybe a box fan the next time you have to work down there. It will make life sooooo much easier.

Cheers Jeff. Good shout there. May have to invest in one of those.

Yeah I had actually. Would have been a lot cheaper and easier however they don't sell it over here and because it's a pressurized can they won't allow it to be shipped internationally as it's classed as hazardous. Bought some other stuff touted as bed-liner/dampener but was concerned as it's for external use only and was worried about the smell/fumes inside the car.

Stopped on the way home to get my new Magnaflow cat-back adjusted and tightened up. Now the car sounds and feels better.

Are you going to add a subwoofer? I have some left over sound deadening from when I was working on an old car and was thinking about maybe adding some sheets to the trunk for my subwoofer. It will be a small powered unit so not much thump, but I figured might as well add some sheets while I'm in there installing the sub.

I live in Teays Valley, just west of Charleston. The closest track is Kanawha Valley Dragway, but it is just an 1/8th mile.
