Became the Probe. One of my favorite Fords of all times.

They could introduce a smaller V8/V6 RWD coupe under the Mustang at this point. Go against the FR-S/BRZ, RX-9, 370Z, Genesis Coupe. Call it a Probe, I don't care. Just make it RWD and with a manual.

A cab-forward stance with a short wheelbase that screams FWD, but has elements that end up on a Mustang..... sounds a lot like the Evos.

Ford concepts have improved considerably too, not just their production vehicles.

I always liked the Probe. At the time it was a good front wheel drive sports coupe.

I was a young man in my early twenties when Ford came up with the idea of the Probe / Mustang. There was such an uproar because Ford was going to turn the Mustang into a front wheel drive car with only a 4 and 6 cylinder engine option. I'm glad the protestors won out on that one because the Probe was not the direction Mustang needed to go. I suspect if it had, we would not have a Mustang today. Nothing against the Probe mind you, it was a good car. It just wasn't a Mustang.

Ford had big expectations of selling Probes in Australia at the time - Major Flop ! We also like our performance V8s.

No doubt of that. And when Ford needed to put an all new suspension under the all new Mustang, who did they go to?
