I want to check the pads and get something like Baer or Hawk but I need to make sure I'm buying the right part that fits and works. I don't know entirely what I am doing. If I still have meat on the back, can I use different material for the front or must I have the same material all around?

You have regular GT brakes (non-PP) painted red. You can have two different brake pad compounds front vs. rear if you want to change the brak bias a bit, but unless you have a specific reason to do it, I'd just stay with stock pads.

I believe the front brakes are 2 piston Continental, the rears are ATE (which Continental owns).

Is it time to change the rotors too?
