What are the chances of Ford increasing production of GT350 to meet demand levels?

Seems like dealers will easily be selling the 1 or 2 or 5 GT350s we hear they're getting for their 2016 Allocation. Why wouldn't Ford just increase annual production numbers to meet demand? Why leave all those sales behind?

Not gonna happen
Scheduling issues, supplier contract issues, fleet CAFE issues etc...
It is also very much part of the hype....a car you can't get.

They will already meet the demand with around 5000 of them. The demand is no higher than the last GT500, which had plenty sitting on lots.

This. Ford has made plenty of specials since 2003. No one who wanted a cobra, Shelby, boss, anniversary has gone without one and that will continue.

It's a tough job to sort out how many to build and keep them special yet not so limited that it's too rare. Case in point, the 03 cobra. They made 10k of them (roughly) and they where sitting on lots and selling for 10k under sticker.

Yep. I owned the 1st 2003 Cobra in the Tampa area. I paid ADM of $5k.

6 months later, the same dealer was selling them for $5k under MSRP.

What is being 1st worth?

We're getting 5. 4 350's and 1 R
The R is already sold and so are 2 of the 4 regular 350s

Long post short, we had ton of Mach's on the lot and I got a car I instantly fell in love with for a lot less than MSRP. On the other hand we never really had more than 1 or 2 Boss models on the lot at the same time And the price never really seem to come down and I never ended up picking up what is my second favorite late model Mustang.

Now I'm not sure the GT350 might not have took the Mach's spot on my "must have" list.

To be fair they had been built for what 7 years? They weren't sitting on lots every model year by any means; certain years yes. You can't compare a brand new model to say a 2009 or 2012 where the essentially same car had been produced 2-3 years before and already at $5-6k/year already. After 12-15k had been produced the eager buyers already had theirs. Every body style change or engine change the demand went up for the first year.

Sure in a year or 2 the demand may be down but year 1 demand will always be much much higher.

I'm actually willing to bet they sell out all 5,000 very quickly honestly. There are still people who wanted a 2015 who didn't get one of the first hundred and change built.

This is just the first MY of a whole new car, once the first run of eager buyers get their cars, demand will adjust. Only in this case it may take most of the MY2016 before that happens, but with the GT500 on the horizon it will happen. Let's be honest, there are only so many folks willing to pay 50k+ for a mustang.

Every other hot stang kept up production until the very end of each year (including the latest Boss 302, GT500s, etc). No one was paying ADM for those cars

To be fair anything with the Shelby name on it will always sell. The 2007 GT500, an 8 year old car and the first modern year they were out, still commands a $25-28k selling price for a car under 50-65k miles; almost 2/3 it's original MSRP which is extremely high for a 8 year old car. A car that "only" has 500hp; scary that the 5.0 today nearly puts that out with some bolt ons and the GT350 more than 500 without the supercharger.

If they get enough demand....They will increase the volume or extend the years in production. Bean counters and commercial strategy teams being what they are....will see the benefit of doing so. Its why FoMoCo is a very profitable company in excess of 30 billion. Compared to GM with their bigger lineup and only at 10 Billion. FoMoCo knows how to remain profitable.

Listen....Then...

Give the people more of what they want. Its a good formula.

Now if they can apply that to Lincoln. Or somehow...buy back Cadillac. Keeping in mind that it was originally a FoMoCo asset they sold to GM. So if history teaches us car enthusiasts anything. The next Gen Camaro has FoMoCo to thank for becoming the new platform for a Cadillac Chassis. Ha Ha.

The 2013-2014 GT500 with its 662hp, which was the highest power V8 in a normal production car at the time, had massive hype. It didn't take very long to get a deal on those, and the GT350 will be exactly the same. My Boss 302, with 2 others at same dealership, were all on the lot advertised at 3.5K under msrp about 6 months after they started showing up at dealerships. The market isn't huge for a manual only, 50K+ mustang.
